THE HERTFORDSHIRE (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS AND FOOTPATH IN , , , AND ) ORDER 2016

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:-

1. To prohibit all traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:- a) that length of Romeland, St Albans from its junction with Romeland Hill south westwards to its junction with Abbey Mill Lane, a distance of approximately 100 metres.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works. b) that length of Woodcock Hill, Ayot St Lawrence/Sandridge from its junction with Coopers Green Lane south westwards, north westwards and south westwards to its junction with House Lane, a distance of approximately 2572 metres.

An alternative route will be via Coopers Green Lane, Sandpit Lane and House Lane. c) that length of B556 Harper Lane, Shenley from its junction with the B5378 Shenleybury/B5378 Shenley Lane roundabout south westwards to its junction with A5183 Watling Street, a distance of approximately 2587 metres.

An alternative route will be via B5378 (Shenleybury/Black Lion Hill), Radlett Lane, Shenley Hill and A5183 Watling Street. d) that length of A4147 Catherine Street, St Albans from its junction with Normandy Road north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with the A1081 St Peters Street/ A1057 Hatfield Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 345 metres.

An alternative route will be via A4147 (Catherine Street/Folly Lane), A5183 (Folly Lane/ Verulam Road/High Street) and A1081 (Chequer Street/St Peters Street). e) that length of A1081 London Road, St Albans from its junction with A5183 Holywell Hill south eastwards to its junction with the A414 London Colney Bypass/A414 North Orbital Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 3390 metres.

An alternative route will be via A5183 (Holywell Hill/St Stephens Hill/Watling Street) and A414 North Orbital Road. f) that length of Cunningham Avenue, St Albans from its junction with A1081 London Road north eastwards for its entire length.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works. g) that length of Morris Way, London Colney from its junction with High Street north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with White Horse Lane, a distance of approximately 397 metres.

An alternative route will be via High Street and Whitehorse Lane.

2. To prohibit all pedestrians from using the footpath situated on the north side of No.34 Cell Barnes Lane, St Albans from its junction with Cell Barnes Lane north westwards for a distance of approximately 25 metres (“the Footpath”).

An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the west side of Cell Barnes Lane and the footpath situated on the east side of No.21 Barncroft Way.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads and Footpath.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 2 January 2017 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads and Footpath.

A copy of the proposed Order may be inspected free of charge at County Hall, between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm (excluding weekends, bank and public holidays).
