ord Trinetra Ganesha temple housed in Ranthambore Fort situated in the core Larea of Ranthambore National Park is a favourite destination of local people, pilgrims and tourists. In order to reach the fort and temple within, the people have to walk or ride in their vehicles through the RNP on Fort road as it being the only means to reach the Fort. Considerable adverse environmental impact has been caused due the rampant movement of tourists & pilgrims besides the degradation of the environment, water and air pollution on account of increased vehicular use and certain developmental activities, thereby disturbing the whole ecology making it necessary to look for a viable solution which is socially acceptable and has little or no impact on the environment of the Park. Human developmental activities in the area cannot be curtailed altogether, however if such activities go hand-in-hand with positive technological change, the desired results of environmental balance can be achieved and the visitors could be made partners to the process of conservation. At the same time it provides an impressive answer to the present and future traffic problems causing environmental issues in RNP and create added value not only to Sawai Madhopur city but to whole state of Rajasthan. The project is developed with objective to minimize the average time spent by any person in RNP. In the present setup the average time spent in the National park by any given pilgrim is more than 6 hour on foot or atleast 2-3 hours on vehicle. More time spent in the park means more environmental impacts disturbing the whole ecology of the esteemed Ranthambore National Park. The Proposed integrated ropeway system shall reduce the journey to 16 to 18 min in a cabin floating meters above the topography of national park causing no environmental impact. The proposed routes with minimum number of towers has been aligned above the existing Fort road to facilitate the construction, operation and maintenance of the ropeway. The Project is more inclined towards conservation of National Park rather than it being a business venture. Our company has been granted permission to conduct preliminary investigations and survey in accordance to section 6 of the Rajasthan Ropeways Act, 1996 vide letter no. Judicial/2015/4670 dated 09/07/2015 for the proposed Ropeway starting

That an application to grant access in Ranthambore National park in accordance to the above referred permission was filed in the office of CWLW, Rajasthan on 13th of August 2015. It has been directed vide letter no. F4 (2) vividh/CWLW/2015/1831 received on 28-09-15 to file online application to seek the permission; accordingly the same is being filed online.

Brief narrative about the Project:- The Ranthambore National Park is an example of man-wild co existence for centuries. But with the ever increasing footfall of tourists, pilgrims and the local villagers every passing day, the harmonious coexistence has come to a bleak scenario. With around two lakh people walking through the National Park every year, interrelationship of a healthy fear between man and animal has deteriorated alarmingly. The road that connects the entry gate of RNP to the Ranthambore Fort is also Page 2

And this may be the major reason behind the recent incidents of attacks on humans by wild animals. Not only this, the famous Ranthambore Fort which spreads over an area of 7 kilometres in circumference is a UNESCO world heritage site, which will definitely add to the existing traffic in Ranthambore National Park. Over the time many incidence of animal-human conflicts have occurred but there seems to be no permanent solution to the grave problem. Our company has the vision to address this massive problem by providing an innovative ropeway system for The Trinetra Lord Ganesh Temple situated at Ranthambore Fort and offer a host of benefits to the pilgrims who either have to walk or ride vehicles through the dense forest of Ranthambore National Park (RNP), which is not only risky to themselves but is also deterrent to the natural environment of the Park. The proposed Ropeway is planned to cross in areal space over the RNP without disturbing the Flora, Fauna and the natural Habitat of animals, with ease and glide over every hindrance and it being electrically operated, would be fully environment friendly. The Ropeway solution offers infinite scope for creativity with minimum interference in the Park and is devised to reduce the unfortunate incidences of human-animal conflicts like the ones in recent times.

However a preliminary investigation for the feasibility study, need assessment, proper site identification, alignment, design and planning of the proposed ropeway project starting from 'Ganesh Dham Tiraha, Ranthambore Road' from the main entrance gate of 'Ranthambore National Park' or any other location/s in and around the vicinity and boundary of 'Ranthambore National Park' (Subject to technical limitations) with an aim to access and reach 'The Trinetra Lord Ganesh Temple' situated at Ranthambore Fort, Ranthambore, District Sawai Madhopur is objected to form the basis for the feasibility, its need assessment, proper site identification, alignment, design and planning of the proposed ropeway which forms the main source of guidelines for the project. Social, economic and environmental factors and technical parameters would be assessed during the Preliminary investigation to ensure that the Proposed Ropeway is viable and beneficial to the National Park, technically sound and socially acceptable, and has little or no impact on the surrounding ecology and environment of the Park.

These components are important to decide the project viability.

Environment friendly, social acceptability and economic viability are the pre conditions for the Proposed Ropeway installation. Therefore, the preliminary investigation shall be conducted in four parts including:

Ÿ Environment and Socioeconomic survey- by collection of various data primary and secondary data, interviewing the pilgrims and tourists, traffic survey etc. Ÿ Tiger trails and behaviour pattern – scientific study by experts. Ÿ Other animal trail and movement behaviour – scientific study by experts. Ÿ Technical survey All the surveys and investigations will be carried out parallel to ascertain feasibility of the project in consonance with environmental, economic and technical viability of the site. Site selection A rigorous site assessment is necessary to identify the suitable alignment for the proposed ropeway starting from 'Ganesh Dham Tiraha, Ranthambore Road' near the main entrance gate of 'Ranthambore National Park' or any other location/s in and around the vicinity and boundary of 'Ranthambore National Park' (Subject to technical limitations) with an aim to access and reach 'The Trinetra Lord Ganesh Temple' situated at Ranthambore Fort, Ranthambore, District Sawai Madhopur. The ropeway alignment has to be around and near the existing fort road that leads to the Ranthambore fort or around the existing tracks to facilitate the final execution of project and also future operation and maintenance. The optimum routes have been marked by using the Google earth technology and Survey of India Topo sheet; however the practical viability of the route/ alternates available and ground pegging is to be done in the proposed investigation and survey. The basic area of survey has been marked as A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H is shown in the attached map in black outline and it has also been marked in the attached .kml file. When designing the route of the ropeway, due regard shall be given to the effect on/from existing neighbouring areas such as road, water bodies, hills, slope stability, natural habitats and the heritage importance of the Ranthambore Fort. Adequate consultations with concerned organizations and most importantly with local people, forest officials, guards, guides, drivers and others are to be done.

1.2. Alignment The following points are to be considered while selecting an alignment for the proposed ropeway:

A) Profile The ropeway alignment is meant to decide the following: ü The ropeway alignment has to be around and near the existing road that leads to the Ranthambore fort or existing motorable tracks to facilitate the final execution of project and also future operation and maintenance after the execution of the Ropeway. Ltd L-9 Income Tax Colony, Tonk Road, Jaipur - 302018 (Raj) India Email:[email protected] Ph : + 141 3150 060 +91 86969 28110 ü The position of the lower station is to be finalized in the neighbouring Ganesh Dham Tiraha, Ranthambore Road' at the main entrance gate of 'Ranthambore National Park' or any other location/s in and around the vicinity and boundary of 'Ranthambore National Park' on Ranthambore Road. ü The position of the intermediary curve bases is to be finalized in accordance to the ropeway alignment. ü Similarly, the upper station/s is preferred on a suitable hill/plateau/place within/ close vicinity to Ranthambore Fort.

B) Clearance Suitable elevation clearance between the base of the trolleys and the ground level or the vegetation and topography above the ground and support towers is to be finalized in accordance to the proposed alignment of ropeway.

C) Crossing All possible structures that can be affected by installation of ropeway such as electric transmission lines if any, trails and roads, rapats and other existing chowkis or alike infrastructures are to be identified and pegged . 1.3. Site geology Suitable and flat land, hilltop or plateau for erecting support towers and ropeway stations are to be identified.

1.4. Detailed Topographical Survey The detailed topographical survey of the ropeway site is to be done to serves the following two important objectives: Ÿ To prepare the detailed map of the ropeway site and surrounding areas, giving all the details of those features which are important while designing the ropeway. Ÿ Existence adjoining topographical structures, obstructions and terrain characteristics are to be obtained from the site tachometric survey.

1.5. Tachometric survey: Tachometric survey is to be done to calculate the elevations at different points Page 8

The survey points (staff points) are to be taken at different intervals of slopes, terraces, fields and other features representing the actual topography of the ground.

1.6. Photographs Proper photography and videography is to be done considering following views during surveying the sites. Ÿ Proposed upper, middle, base curves and bottom stations & support towers. Ÿ Ropeway alignment from upper, middle, base curves and bottom station & support towers. Ÿ Any other additional views that will enhance the topographic survey.

1.7. Miscellaneous Data Collection The survey is objected to collect various primary and secondary data and other information about the viability and feasibility of the project by interviewing various stake holders including the forest officials and others. Likewise, it will also include the portage distance and carriage rates of present means of transport.
