GS Misc 991

CHAPLAINS TO THE GENERAL SYNOD

The vacancy for a following Carl Turner’s departure from the Synod prompted some reflection on what arrangements would be best for the future. There was some concern about the workload, and the Archbishops decided to separate the pastoral role from the liturgical role.

The Presidents have appointed the Revd Sister Rosemary CHN (Religious Communities) and Fr Thomas Seville CR (Religious Communities) as joint Pastoral to the Synod and the Revd Canon Andrew Nunn (Southwark) as the Liturgical Chaplain to the Synod.

The Revd Sister Rosemary CHN has been a member of the Community of the Holy Name since 1976, and of the General Synod since 2002. She was ordained in 1998 and in 1999 and has worked in parishes (in Newcastle, Basingstoke, Derby and Nottingham) and in adult education and spiritual direction.

Fr Thomas Seville CR was ordained deacon in 1989 and priest in 1990. He joined the Community of the Resurrection, Mirfield in 1993 and teaches ecclesiology at the College of the Resurrection. He has been a member of the General Synod since 2005.

The Revd Canon Andrew Nunn is the Acting and Canon at Southwark where he has been since 1999. After training for the priesthood at Mirfield he served in parishes in Leeds before moving to Southwark to be Chaplain to the Bishop. In addition to his work at the Cathedral he is Warden of Readers in the diocese and Rector General of the Society of Catholic . He has been a member of the General Synod since 2005.
