TAJ MAHAL BRINGS BLUESY BLEND OF MUSIC TO MISSOULA
MISSOULA—
Musical legend Taj Mahal and the Phantom Blues Band will present what promises to be one of Missoula’s hottest summer concerts.
The Grammy winning artist will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at the University
Theatre on The University of Montana campus.
A master of the great African-American musical traditions — including blues, folk, rhythm and blues, zydeco, gospel and jazz — Taj Mahal won a Grammy for his 1997 album,
“Senor Blues.” Over the course of his 35-year career, Taj has recorded 36 albums — seven of which were Grammy nominated.
“The low down, dirty-sweet vocals of Taj Mahal never fail to get your attention when the man is singing his way through a story,” wrote the New York Post.
“On his latest,” the Post continued, “‘Senor Blues’ — whose title pokes fun at his four decades in music as well as his status as a blues scholar -- Mahal's eclectic musical tastes are in full blossom
Tickets are $21 in advance or $23 on the day of the show. They may be purchased at all TIC-IT-E-Z locations or by calling (888) MONTANA or 243-4051 in Missoula. m
