If you’re Cullum Parker you introduce it to your school and set up a tournament, so there’s lots of other people you can play with. Cullum (10) loves futsal - a South American fi ve-aside version of soccer that is usually played indoors here. He attends futsal sessions at Te Awamutu Intermediate each Wednesday night and his mother Joanne says his futsal ball is ‘almost attached’ to him the rest of the time. “He has it with him from fi rst thing in the morning to last thing at night - he can even un- load the dishwasher while playing with it.” But when Cullum was short of people to play futsal with at school he ‘had a dream’ he could do something about it. He decided to introduce a tournament with classes given names of countries like France, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Ireland and England. He collected expressions of interest, sent out notices, co-ordinated a demonstration day, organised the ‘world cup’ draw and competition timetable, enlisted the help of adults, found referees and even made the tournament score- Proposed Subdivision - Pokuru Road board himself. • One section 9100m2 and two sections Sport Waikato’s Project Energize co-ordinator 2 Greg Pilcher says Cullum had contacted him 5000m all magnifi cent land (approx, regarding the futsal competition, but he didn’t subject to survey) really need a lot of help to achieve his dream. “He has had a minimal amount of guidance • Elevated building sites with views to the from Project Energize - it has been his love of mountains and clean green pasture the game that has driven him to set up and run • A place to build your dream home the tournament. “The other students listen to him and respect • Indulge your love of animals or create a him for the way he goes about things in a quiet, magnifi cent garden professional manner. “It goes to show someone with a good idea in a • Only 6kms to town www.pggwre.co.nz supportive place like Te Awamutu can do great things!” • Price by Negotiation ID: HAM60218 ENGLAND VS BRAZIL FINAL After 10 weeks Cullum’s class team ‘Brazil’ made it all the way to the fi nal, where they met Chris Gadsby ‘England’ .
