Ladder Play

All Competitors must play in Ladder Play in order to be seeded into the Double-Elimination portion of the event.

Ladder Details A minimum number of ten (10) matches (“Minimum Match Threshold”) must be played by a Competitor for their leaderboard entry to be valid. If less than thirty-two (32) Competitors play ten (10) or more matches, then the Minimum Match Threshold will be reduced as needed to reach thirty-two (32) Competitors.

A match constitutes a single, Best-Of-Three (Bo3) series between two competitors.

How to Play 1. Go to the ‘match page’. You will be directed to this via the Tournament Notifications 2. There, you will see a "Start Match" button. Either competitor can click this button. Once it is clicked, both competitors will receive in-game notifications for the match. This notification will time out after 2 minutes, so make sure you are ready to accept! If the notification times out, go back to the match page and the button will reappear to start the notification again. If notifications time out 2 times, it will lock the match page and automatically notify an admin. You will have to speak with an admin in the Battlefy match chat to reset this 3. Since all matches are Best-Of-Three (Bo3) matches, notifications for the 2nd (and 3rd game if needed) are automatically sent within 30 seconds of the last game finishing

Seeding and Advancement The following process will be used to seed Competitors into the Double Elimination Phase of the tournament based on their performance during the Ladder Play phase: Players that register for the event will be eligible to queue for a match on Battlefy.com during the initial three (3) hours of the open play period and will have twenty (20) additional minutes to complete their final match.

A minimum number of ten (10) matches (“Minimum Match Threshold”) must be played by a Competitor for their leaderboard entry to be valid. If less than thirty-two (32) Competitors play ten (10) or more matches, then the Minimum Match Threshold will be reduced as needed to reach thirty-two (32) Competitors.

Competitors with a minimum of ten (10) matches played will be placed higher on the leaderboard than Competitors with less than ten (10) matches played.

For Competitors that play under ten (10) matches, competitors with more matches played will be played higher on the leaderboard than competitors with fewer matches played, even if those with fewer matches played have a higher win-loss differential.

Matchmaking in the Ladder Play Phase will preferentially select players with similar scores in the current play period.

Leaderboard placement is based on the win-loss differential, where one match win equates to +1 point and one match loss equates to -1 point.

Ties on the leaderboard will be broken in the following ways: 1. If the win-loss differential is tied, the player with the most matches played will receive a higher ranking on the leaderboard. 2. If two competitors have the same amount of matches played, the player with the highest amount of game wins will receive the higher ranking on the leaderboard 3. If two competitors have the same amount of individual game wins, the player with the lowest amount of game losses will receive the higher ranking on the leaderboard 4. If there are two players that have the same amount of game losses, Battlefy will moderate a single game between those two players and the winner of the game will be placed higher on the leaderboard. If there are more than two players that have the same amount of game losses, Battlefy will moderate a round-robin to determine placement on the leaderboard.

Double Elimination The Top 32 (thirty-two) participants from ‘Ladder Play’ will be seeded, based on ladder placement, into a double-elimination bracket. The top players from the Double Elimination stage will progress into the CRSC Star Pyramid phase. The number of players that progress depends on the qualifier in which the player participates in. This stage will be played on the 2nd day of the open qualifier weekend. # of Progressing Players from Double-Elimination Bracket Japan ● Open Qualifier #1: 4 players ○ Top 1,2 Players proceed to Week 1 Challenge (August 28 - 29, 2021) ○ Top 3,4 Players proceed to Week 2 Challenge (September 4 - 5, 2021) ● Open Qualifier #2: 4 players ○ Top 1,2 Players proceed to Week 3 Challenge (September 11 - 12, 2021) ○ Top 3,4 Players proceed to Week 4 Challenge (September 25 - 26, 2021) ● Open Qualifier #3: 4 players ○ Top 1,2 Players proceed to Week 5 Challenge (October 2 - 3, 2021) ○ Top 3,4 Players proceed to Week 6 Challenge (October 9 - 10, 2021)
