Road Safety Ministry of Western Australia

Road safety had been the responsibility of the Police Minister until the Road Safety Council was created in February 1997. The Council reported to the Transport Minister. The Gallop government created a Department of Planning and Infrastructure which included Transport, but on March 8 2001 responsibility for road safety was transferred to , the Minister for Police, Emergency Services and Local Government. Michelle Roberts was sworn in as the Minister Assisting the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure. The Liberal Party shadow ministry announced in December in 2001 a Shadow Minister for Road Safety. When the Liberal Party formed a government in 2008 the Hon Rob Johnson was given the portfolio of Road Safety.
