Last year’s theme was friendship. Our goal was to expand our relationships to better meet the needs of our students. I’m pleased to say that we have been successful in our goal. Through the help of our friends, we have extended the Bag Tag Program to new clubs, including Innis Arden Golf Club, which raised $45,000 this year in its first ever club solicita- tion. Likewise, our friends are responsible for our sold out Pro Am at Stanwich and our successful Golf Marathon at the Country Club of New Canaan. One hundred alumni and guests filled our annual Alumni Golf Outing at Metropolis to capacity. They also came out for our inaugural Four-Ball Event at Hudson National Golf Club this fall.

You, our friends, enabled us to grant 75 new scholarships in July to deserving students who work in service to golf at our member clubs. In the 2015-16 school year, there are 276 WGA Caddie Scholars. These students represent 60 member clubs, and 141 colleges, universities and trade schools. Our tuition commitment for the school year is $1,073,000. Our average award is $3,860 per year.

With your help, we have been able to increase our award levels, as well as grant bonuses to students in their final year of school. Our work is not done, however. Our goal is to raise the average award for all students to $5,000 per year in the foreseeable future. In order to achieve our goal, we are looking towards expanding our relationships beyond our close circle of friends to sponsors within the community. This year, we have developed or continued relationships with a number of sponsors. Foremost among these is BMW, who has expanded its support through hole-in-one events at member clubs and the donation of auction items. We also are proud to continue our relationship with Two Roads Brewing Company. In addition, we have developed new relation- ships with Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, Meridian Risk Management, and Morell Studios. Many of these companies are headquartered just a few miles from us, have strong ties to member clubs or a strong presence in our community.

The WGA Caddie Scholarship Fund (CSF) was established in 1956 by Willie P. Turnesa and Udo Reinach to provide college scholarships to students with financial need. Since its inception, the CSF has provided in excess of $10,000,000 in scholarship aid to 2,500 students. Scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $8,000 per year. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, have applied to or currently attend school, and have worked a minimum of two seasons in service to golf at a WGA member club. Service to golf includes caddying, golf course maintenance, and work in the golf pro shop, bag room or on the practice range. Ways to Help

THE PRO AM

The 34th Annual Caddie Scholarship Fund Pro Am was held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, CT. The day consisted of morning and afternoon shotguns, and an evening cocktail reception featuring a silent auction. Prizes were awarded to winners of the team competitions, with low professionals receiving a prize as well. This fun day of golf was in support of the Caddie Scholarship Fund, raising close to $100,000 for scholarships. Two Roads Brewing Company kindly provided various beers for the event, while Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits held a tasting of “The Calling” wines. 11 GOLF MARATHON

The 7th Annual Golf Marathon was held on Monday, August 24, 2015 at the Country Club of New Canaan in New Canaan, CT. Participants included former WGA caddie scholars, caddie masters, golf professionals and club members of Westchester and Connecticut clubs. The participants enlisted the support of friends, family and club members to benefit the CSF. Local businesses also supported their efforts by donating prizes for the most holes played and leading fundraisers. Playing from dawn until dusk, the forty- two participants completed a record 2,640 holes.

The Annual Caddie Scholarship Fund Alumni Reunion and Golf Outing was held on Monday, July 20, 2015 at Metropolis Country Club in White Plains, NY. Over one hundred alumni and friends enjoyed lunch, golf, and a dinner reception.

The Inaugural Friends of the Fund Four-Ball was held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Hudson National Golf Club in Croton-On-Hudson, NY. The event consisted of an afternoon shotgun and evening reception which featured a silent auction.
