SCOUTING Taking a look at the Red Foxes of Marist College, the team is led by Olivia Pitonzo on offense with 71 points (29 goals, 42 assists). Her 42 assists this season is the most by any MAAC player. Samantha Mehalick is the team leader in goals with 39 on the season. Abigail Witczak has played every minute between the pipes for Marist this season. She has recorded 205 saves while posting a 10.92 goals against average. Witczak's .510 save percentage also ranks as the best in the league. Midfi elder Hailey Wagner leads the conference with 127 draw controls this season and collects 7.06 per game.

2017 Fairfi eld Women’s Lacrosse Postseason Guide MAAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR Senior attacker Riley Hellstein was named the unanimous 2017 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year. She becomes the fi fth different Stag to take home the award, and fi rst since Chloe Mangan in 2011. Hellstein was also unanimously selected to the All-MAAC First Team, she had been selected to the All-MAAC Second Team the previous two seasons. The senior led the Stags in scoring with 66 points and 51 goals. She ranks in the Top 25 in the nation in goals per game (11th), points per game (21st), and free position goals per game (4th). She is also fi rst or second in the MAAC in goals per game (2nd), points per game (2nd), game-winning goals (1st), and free-position goals per game (1st).

2017 Fairfi eld Women’s Lacrosse Postseason Guide Head Coach Laura Field Second Season • Princeton ’00

Laura Field assumed the role of head coach of the Fairfi eld women’s lacrosse team following the 2015 season. Th e upcoming spring will be her ninth overall campaign with the Stags.

Field’s seven year tenure as Associate Head Coach from 2008-15 has included the most successful stretch in program history. Th e span is highlighted by Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships and NCAA postseason berths in 2009 and 2015. Her stay has also coincided with the program’s two winningest seasons, a program-record 17-game overall winning streak and a stretch of 30 consecutive regular season victories over MAAC foes.

Field came to Fairfi eld aft er an eight-year stint with the women’s lacrosse program, including an 11-5 season as interim head coach in 2008 that saw the Bulldogs fi nish at No. 17 in the national poll. All told, Field helped guide Yale to a fi nal top-20 national ranking six times, including a No. 7 ranking following the 2003 season. Th at year, Yale posted a 13-3 mark and captured the title en route to the NCAA Championship Quarterfi nals.

NCAA Tournament experience is nothing new to Field, who earned four varsity letters as a member of the lacrosse program. As the starting goalkeeper for the Tigers, Field led the squad to the 2000 NCAA Championship Game to cap a run of three straight postseason bids. She was a First Team All-Ivy honoree in 1997.

A native of Mystic, Conn., Field currently resides in New Haven.

2017 Fairfi eld Women’s Lacrosse Postseason Guide Assistant Coach Erin Slifer Second Season • Princeton ’15

Erin Slifer enters her second season with Fairfi eld as the assistant coach heading into the spring of 2017. Slifer was draft ed 20th overall by the Boston Storm in the inaugural United Women’s Lacrosse League (UWLX) Draft in April of 2016.

She was a four-year letterwinner at Princeton University, earning All- America honors as a co-captain of the Tigers in 2015.In addition to All-America laurels, Slifer claimed her second consecutive First Team All-Ivy League nod and was named the league’s Midfi elder of the Year in 2015. She rounded out her decorated senior campaign with First Team All-ECAC and IWLCA First Team All-Mid-Atlantic laurels. Slifer led Princeton in scoring with 71 points – 41 goals and 30 assists – as the Tigers won the Ivy League Championship.

Princeton would advance to the NCAA Championship Quarterfi nals, defeating the Stags in the opening round and then upsetting host Stony Brook in the second round. Princeton fi nished the spring ranked No. 9 in the nation by the IWLCA.

Slifer graduated from Princeton in May of 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics.

Coordinator of Lacrosse Operations Mike Waldvogel Second Season • Cortland State ‘71

Mike Waldvogel is the Coordinator of Women’s Lacrosse Operations at Fairfi eld aft er retiring from his head coaching post following the 2015 season. He owns over 250 collegiate head coaching victories (258-178) between his time at Fairfi eld and Yale (men’s) and made fi ve NCAA postseason appearances.

Waldvogel led the Stags to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship and an NCAA Championship berth in 2009 and 2015. He is a three-time MAAC Coach of the Year.

In his seven years as head coach at Fairfi eld, the Stags went 92-35 with a 42-4 mark in MAAC Lacrosse League regular season play. Including his season as an assistant in 2008, Waldvogel has been on the sidelines for 112 Stags’ victories.

A 1996 National Lacrosse Hall of Fame inductee, Waldvogel was a two-time First Team All-America selection as a defenseman. He went to play for the US National Team in 1974 and 1978 and later coached the squad in 1990.

Waldvogel earned a Bachelor’s Degree Science Education from Cortland State in 1971 and a Master’s Degree in Science Education in 1975. He currently resides in Madison, Conn.
