“We’ve known Bishop Conlon for about 15 years now. He was our pastor at our parish, Holy Re- deemer, [in New Bremen, Ohio]. That’s in the Cincinnati Archdiocese. He was our pastor there for seven years. And then he left and went to Steubenville, and we saw him installed as a bishop at that time. He comes out to our parish about twice a year. We’re always glad to see him. And so now we followed him today for this big occasion. He was a very good pastor. He was very good with the kids. When we heard he was going to be ordained a bishop, it didn’t surprise us. He’s very, very intelligent. We hated to see him go, but that’s God’s calling.”

— Rita Heitkamp, a parishioner at Holy Redeemer Parish in New Bremen, Ohio.

Carlos Brice ñ o 2 “So far I’m real impressed. I read an article on him. He seems to really be sensitive to the needs of the small parish, and that’s something exciting for us because we are a small parish.”

— Steve Bloomstrand, a parishioner at St. Joseph Parish in Loda.

“I think he’s a good man. I kind of know him. I go to school at Franciscan University in Steubenville [where Bishop Conlon was the bishop before coming to the Diocese of Joliet.] I’m studying philosophy and theology.
