The militants who were killed in the attack were identified as Manzoor Ahmad Baba, and Fardeen Ahmad Khanday both residents of Kashmir. Sources said that at least three fidayeens stormed into the camp by firing indiscriminately and lobbed grenades. The 4-storey building consisted of 3 blocks and block-one was used for officer's family accommodation, 2nd block as main office while block three as camp and it was targeted by militants. Soon after the attack, reinforcement of Army's Special Forces and SOG rushed to the spot and cordoned off the whole area amid fierce gunfight. In the initial exchange of gunfight, seven CRPF personnel were injured. Five of them were killed. Another injured CRPF soldier succumbed to his injuries on January 1, 2018. October 3 BSF camp near / Srinagar International JeM militants carried out a pre- Airport/ Srinagar District dawnfidayeen (suicide) attack on a BSF camp near the high-security Srinagar International Airport in Srinagar District, in which an ASI of BSF was killed and three other SFs personnel were injured.
