JEEP COMPASS TOWING AND PERFORMANCE Most Jeep models will come with a variety of engine off erings. By picking the exact engine you want, you can customize the overall performance of your SUV or truck. However, the Jeep Compass is the lone Jeep to off er just a single motor. The sole powerplant off ered is a 2.4L Tigershark® MultiAir® 2 valve train system. This engine delivers reliable power with 177 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque. It also prioritizes fuel economy, meaning you can expect an EPA-estimated 22 city/31 highway MPG as well. So how does this power/effi ciency balance work in terms of towing capacity? The Compass can haul as much as 2,000 pounds. With this type of capability, you can comfortably transport small boats or trailers, ATVs, and other light-weight vehicles such as jet skis. Jeep Renegade Towing and Performance Next up in the Jeep lineup is the Jeep Renegade. There are some overlapping characteristics between the Renegade and Compass. Both SUVs have well-composed on-road driving dynamics yet can still serve as towing machines if needed. For the Renegade, you have a pair of engines to pick between. 1 2.4L Tigershark® The same 2.4L found in the Compass is also off ered as the standard engine for the Jeep Renegade. Output measures 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy is nearly identical as well, with the Renegade receiving an EPA-estimated 22 city/30 highway MPG. In terms of towing capacity, the same 2,000-pound maximum is within reach if you outfi t your Renegade with the Trailer Tow Group package. This specifi c package will endow your Jeep with: • Class II hitch receiver • 4-pin wiring harness 1.3L Turbo The other engine option for the Jeep Renegade is the 1.3L Turbo engine. Its towing capacity is also 2,000 pounds when properly equipped. With the turbo, you can expect more on-road juice. The horsepower measures 177 and the torque is bumped up to 210 lb-ft. You even get more effi ciency with an EPA-estimated 24 city/32 highway MPG!
