X-Marks The Spot (x4) The Vegas Golden Knights are the fourth franchise in NHL history to make the playoffs in each of its first four seasons, following the Edmonton Oilers (13; 1980–1992), (9; 1927–1935) &St. Louis Blues (6; 1968–1973).

Series Dubs & Final Four Appearances In 2020, Vegas became the third franchise in League history to earn at least one series win in two of its first three seasons & the first to reach the Conference Finals at least twice in its first three campaigns. The Golden Knights (6-3) are the third franchise (active or defunct) to earn 6+ series wins through its first four NHL seasons, joining the Blues & Rangers.

One Of The Best Winning Percentage In Playoffs The Golden Knights, who are in their fourth consecutive postseason, own a playoff win percentage of .571 (32-24 in 56 games played). That is the third best winning percentage in NHL postseason history behind the Edmonton Oilers, who have a winning percentage of .588 (160-112 in 272 games played), and Canadiens, who have a winning percentage of .578 (432-315-7 in 754 games played).

Flower In Full Bloom Vegas goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury (35 saves), who matched a career high for saves in a playoff shutout, backstopped the Golden Knights to victory in Game 4 against the Wild. It was his 16th career playoff shutout, tying Curtis Joseph for third place on the NHL’s all-time list.

Consecutive Playoff Flowers Vegas goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury passed Tony Esposito & became the first goaltender in NHL history – & 21st player at any position – to skate in 15 consecutive postseasons after starting Game 1 of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs against Minnesota. Only four goaltenders in League history have made 15 playoff appearances at any point in their careers. He also holds the longest active streak amongst any player in the four major leagues (MLB/NBA/NFL/NHL). The full list of active athletes appearing in at least 12 consecutive playoffs is below. Stanley Cup Pedigree The Vegas roster includes four Stanley Cup champions: Marc-Andre Fleury (2009 PIT, 2016 PIT, 2017 PIT), Alec Martinez (2012 LAK, 2014 LAK), Alex Pietrangelo (2019 STL) & Chandler Stephenson (2018 WSH). Fleury is one of eight active NHL players – & the only active goaltender – with his name on the Cup at least three times; he can become the 13th netminder in NHL history to have his name engraved four or more times.

Fleury Looking To Climb All-Time Rankings Vegas goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury is the League’s active leader in playoff wins (85) & games played (154). He became the fifth goaltender in NHL history to appear in at least 150 playoff games, joining Patrick Roy (247), Martin Brodeur (205), Ed Belfour (161) & Grant Fuhr (150). He is within reach of equaling Billy Smith & Ed Belfour – who each have 88 wins – for fourth place in career playoff victories.

Life of Reilly In The Postseason Vegas forward Reilly Smith is one of five players to play in all 56 postseason games in Golden Knights history & is the franchise leader in playoff assists (33) & points (46). He is one of 19 players in League history who have skated in each of a franchise’s first 50 all-time playoff games & only the second player to do it with a club that joined the NHL in the 1990s or later, joining Daniel Alfredsson (99 GP with OTT).

Corner Stone Vegas entered the playoffs with a designated captain for the first time, with Mark Stone donning the “C” after collecting 17-17—34 through 36 postseason games with the club. Stone ranks eighth in the NHL for playoff points since 2019 when he joined the Golden Knights & he is one of six skaters with at least 17 goals since the start of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Teddy Time In The Playoffs Vegas defenseman Shea Theodore has posted 41 points (11 G, 30 A) in 56 postseason games since the 2018 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. He is one of two blueliners since the start of the 2018 playoffs to post more than 40 points, the other being Tampa's Victor Hedman, who has posted 43 points (11 G, 32 A) in 53 games. In Game 2 against the Colorado Avalanche (June 2), Theodore assisted on both Golden Knights goals, which was the 12th career multi-point postseason in his career.

Philipp Grubauer made a postseason career-high 39 saves and Brandon Saad scored for the fifth straight game.

TONIGHT'S GAME COLORADO at VEGAS GAME 3 - SECOND ROUND 7:15 p.m. PT / 8:15 p.m. MT NBCSN / 92.5 The second round playoff series shifts to Las Vegas for Game 3 tonight at T-Mobile Arena. The Avs won the first two games on home ice. Since relocating to Denver, Colorado is 14-1 in a best-of-seven playoff series when winning the first two games.

PICK SIX The Avalanche have started a playoff year 6-0 for the first time in franchise history. The six straight victories matches the franchise record for consecutive wins at ANY point of a playoff year, as the Nordiques also won six straight in 1987. Only two teams in the last 30 years have posted a longer win streak to start a playoff year, the 1994 Rangers and 2008 Penguins (both 7-0).

LIGHT THE LAMP The Avs, who are averaging a league-high 5.0 goals-per-game during the playoffs, are the first team to start a postseason 6-0 while scoring 30+ goals since the 1994 Rangers (33). Colorado won its first five playoff games by three or more goals, the first team to do that since the 1994 Rangers. The Avalanche scored five-plus goals in four straight playoff games for the first time in franchise history from May 19-30.

FEELING GRUBI Philipp Grubauer is 6-0 this postseason, tying the franchise record for consecutive wins in a playoff year set by Quebec’s Mario Gosselin in 1987. He has now won 10 straight playoff decisions dating back to last year, a franchise record and the eighth longest streak in NHL history. It's the longest since Patrick Roy's 11-game run with the Canadiens in 1993. Grubauer, who was named a finalist for the Vezina Trophy, leads all netminders in GAA (1.66) and Sv% (.943) this postseason.

GREAT NATE Nathan MacKinnon is the first NHL player to record at least eight goals AND 13 points through the first six games of a postseason since Oilers teammates Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier in 1983. MacKinnon was just the seventh player in history to score eight or more goals through the first five games of a playoff year and the first since Ray Ferraro in 1993. Over the last 100 years (since 1920-21), MacKinnon and Steve Payne (1981, Minnesota) were the only players to have at least eight goals AND 12 points through their first five playoff games.

TOP OF THE LINE Colorado's top line of Landeskog (4g/7a), MacKinnon (8g/5a) and Rantanen (3g/7a) have combined for 34 points and a +25 rating through six games this postseason. The Avalanche are the first team with three 10-point scorers through six games in a playoff year since the 2006 Senators (Martin Havlat, Dany Heatley, Jason Spezza).

HIGH FIVE Brandon Saad has a career-high five-game goal streak, tied for the third longest in franchise playoff history.

GOIN STREAKING Rantanen has points in each of his last 16 playoff games dating back to last year, a franchise record for the longest playoff point streak including multiple postseasons. It’s the longest streak by an NHL player including multiple postseasons since Pavel Bure had a 16-game run during the 1994 playoffs. The last player with a longer streak? Al MacInnis (19 games) with Calgary from 1989 to 1990.

HOME SWEET HOME The Avalanche are 4-0 at home this postseason and going back to the regular season have won 13 straight at Ball Arena and are 20-0-1 in their last 21 on home ice. The Avs finished 22-4-2 at home (.821) this season, tied for the most wins and points (46) in the league. The .821 home points percentage was the club’s highest since relocating to Denver. Colorado finished the year on a nine-game home winning streak and went 16-0-1 in its final 17 at Ball Arena, tying the franchise record for the longest home point streak set in 2002-03. The Avs out-scored their opponents 110-54 (+56) on home ice.

MARQUEE MATCHUP This series marks only the fourth time in Stanley Cup Playoff history in which two teams who tied for first overall in points during the regular season went on to meet in the playoffs.

TOP TEAMS MEETING EARLY NOT SO RARE Since the NHL switched to a division playoff format in 2013-14, this is the third time in eight seasons that the league’s top two teams from the regular season met in the second round. Washington and Pittsburgh faced off in 2016-17 and Nashville and Winnipeg in 2017-18.

Mikko Rantanen is second among active players and fifth all-time at 1.26 (49 points in 39 games). ALL HAIL CALE Makar ranks second among NHL defensemen with eight points (2g/6a) this postseason. He had a postseason career high four points (1g/3a) in Game 1 vs. Vegas on May 30, the first four-point effort by an Avalanche defenseman in the playoffs since Rob Blake in Game 1 of 2001 WCQF vs Vancouver (April 12, 2001). Makar's four-point night gave him 28 points (7g/21a) in 30 career playoff games. THAT'S THE POWER OF LOVE The Avs lead the league in power-play percentage at 43.5% (10/23). The Avs have multiple power-play goals in each of the last three games, the first time they've done that in the postseason since May 9-14, 2001

AVS OPEN PLAYOFFS WITH FOUR-GAME SWEEP The Avalanche swept the Blues in four games during their opening round series. It was the third sweep in Avalanche playoff history, joining the 2001 WCQF vs. Vancouver and 1996 Stanley Cup Final against Florida. Colorado out-scored St. Louis 20-7, one of seven teams in playoff history to win a first-round series 4-0 while outscoring their opponents by 13 or more goals (last: 2006 Devils +13 vs. Rangers in ECQF). The Avalanche trailed the Blues for only 7:12 of the entire series and not until the fourth and final game, as the Avs led for 68% of the time. Colorado scored on 50% (6/12) of its power-play opportunities.

PLAYOFF TIME This is Colorado's 37th playoff series since relocating from Quebec (22-14). Overall, this is the 52nd playoff series in franchise history (28-23) and 46th best-of-seven series (25-20). The Nordiques/Avalanche own a 159-135-1 all-time record in 295 playoff games, which includes a 124-90-1 mark in 215 contests since relocating. Colorado's 124 postseason wins trail only Detroit (145) and Pittsburgh (135).

IN THE DANCE Colorado is in the second round for the third straight year, its longest streak of making the second round since doing so in four straight years from 1999 to 2002. The Avalanche are in the playoffs for the fourth straight season, the third-longest run in franchise history (11 from 1995 to 2006 and seven from 1981 to 1987). This is the 26th postseason appearance in franchise history and 17th since moving to Denver.

AVS & VEGAS This marks the first ever playoff series between the Avalanche and Golden Knights. These two clubs did play one postseason game in the 2020 Stanley Cup Qualifiers in Edmonton, a 4-3 OT win for Vegas. The Avalanche finished 4-3-1 against the Golden Knights this year, winning the season series on points (Vegas was 4-4-0). Just one goal separated the two teams, with Vegas out-scoring Colorado 18-17.
