To whom it may concern:

Subject: Nunavik Inuit Business Directory

This is to inform you that Makivik Corporation (Makivik) has undertaken to create a Nunavik Inuit Business Directory whereby Inuit JBNQA beneficiaries will be able to register their businesses.

The primary objective of this web-based Directory will be to facilitate access of qualified Nunavik Inuit Businesses to contracts with the Canadian government as well as with other entities. More particularly, the Nunavik Inuit Enterprise (NIE) website will be used by Makivik to prepare and maintain comprehensive lists of Nunavik Inuit Businesses which will be provided to the Canadian government as well as to mining companies with whom Makivik has signed Impact and Benefit Agreements. These Impact and Benefit Agreements grant preferential treatment to Nunavik Inuit Businesses when bidding on contracts to provide goods and services in Nunavik.

Makivik intends Nunavik Inuit Businesses to use the NIE web site to showcase their products and services on the web by updating their business profile directly on the site.

In late 2011, a test version of this NIE website was presented to Nunavik entrepreneurs who in turn provided us with very useful and constructive comments. We have also been helped throughout the construction of this web site by the Canadian government. We are currently integrating their comments and feedback.

In view of preparing the future launch of the NIE website, Makivik requires that Nunavik Inuit businesses seeking registration in the Directory fill out the enclosed **new form questionnaire, which will allow us to confirm their Inuit status. Enclosed are also 4 tables highlighting the legal definitions of Nunavik Inuit Businesses. Additional criteria such as commitments in regards to Inuit training, labor, location of facilities, etc… may also apply in some cases.

Once we have confirmed your enterprise as a Nunavik Inuit Business, we will then send you another letter confirming that your business will be on Makivik’s list. We will also provide you with an access code along with instructions on how to access the NIE web site.

Please note that the Directory seeks to confirm the Inuit status of your business and give it more visibility. It does not, however, pass any judgment on your business’s other qualifications, nor does it guarantee that your business will obtain contracts from the Canadian government or from mining companies.

Inuit businesses will now be required to update their business information on-line on a yearly basis in order to continue to be listed in the Directory. You will receive more information pertaining to this annual update in due time.

We thank you for your support and we encourage you to contact Daniel Ricard at (514) 745- 8880 or at 1-800-361-7052 for any additional information.
