Junior Corps de 2021-2022 Terms and Conditions

Junior Corps de Ballet Overview Ballet Theatre Company (BTC) offers students a unique opportunity for young aspiring dancers to perform in professional ballet productions as part of BTC’s Junior Corps de Ballet. Dancers placed in The School of Ballet Theatre Company’s (SBTC) Pointe III or IV level are eligible to audition to be a member of BTC’s Junior Corps de Ballet. Dancers placed in SBTC’s Pointe II level are eligible to audition to be an apprentice of BTC’s Junior Corps de Ballet.

The mission of BTC’s Junior Corps de Ballet is to provide serious dancers the opportunity to train at a high caliber, experience professional at a young age, and, if interested, prepare for a future in dance. Members of the Corps de Ballet and apprentices learn the importance of discipline and goal setting, leadership skills, working well with others, and professionalism in and out of the performing arts world.

Junior Corps de Ballet dancers and apprentices rehearse repertoire, are given several performance opportunities, and are exposed to studio choreographic processes not only with BTC’s Artistic Staff, but with guest artists throughout the year. Members may also be considered for the opportunity to dance alongside professional dancers in large stage productions. It is understood, however, that performing is a privilege and not a right. It is not guaranteed that all members or apprentices of the Junior Corps de Ballet will be invited to participate in every performance.

*NEW This Year!* We are excited to announce that Ballet Theatre Company is inaugurating a local company of professional dancers for its 23rd performance season. Company dancers will train and rehearse throughout the week at BTC Studios, and members of the Junior Corps de Ballet will be invited to attend Company Class with the resident dancers each Saturday, prior to rehearsals for upcoming performances (apprentices will attend SBTC class on Saturday mornings). Attending weekly company class alongside local professionals is an exceptional opportunity for members of the Junior Corps de Ballet that will inspire the dancers to reach new levels with their technique and artistry. Having a resident company will additionally provide members and apprentices of the Junior Corps de Ballet with the opportunity to regularly experience a professional rehearsal environment.

Junior Corps de Ballet Audition for the 2021-2022 Season Membership is based upon the Junior Corps de Ballet annual audition.
