Letters to the Editor Tree Felling It was lovely to have such interest shown in the article on trees in the June edition and the request for pictures of the rare Black Poplars and Red May blossom. However, it is with great regret to have to report that, since the article was written and submitted several weeks ago, two of these rare Black Poplars located on the Lutterworth road have been felled. There is now just one left in the bogs. It is a sad reminder of how important it is for us as a village to be aware of what is surrounding us and the legacy it represents that we can both appreciate and pass on for generations to come. When it comes to planning applications such a lot of care needs to be taken in both the submission and subsequent approvals to safeguard our unique character and landscape. The Legacy Group We have received the following response to this article: The Planning Application was submitted on the 27th December. Permission was granted on the 6th February and felling took place on the 5th April. All long before the original June article about the trees.
