In 10 Months, Yogi Adityanath Govt Received 9 Notices from Commission The NHRC notices, most of which were addressed to the Chief Secretary, were sent on a range of issues, including a fake encounter, eve -teasing and children deaths at Gorakhpur hospital.

Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government has been in power in Uttar Pradesh for 10 months now and in this duration it has received as many as nine notices from the National (NHRC).

The notices, most of which were addressed to the Chief Secretary, were sent on a range of issues, including a fake encounter, eve -teasing and children deaths at Gorakhpur hospital. The most recent notice was over a wardboy running a public health centre in Barabanki in the absence of a doctor, which had been reported by News18.

Juhi Singh, the chairman of Uttar Pradesh Child Rights Protection Commission and spokesperson of the Samajwadi Party, said the government should stop ignoring these issues. “Nothing much is done in such cases. Some lower level official is suspended and an investigation committee is formed as a mere formality. But the findings of these reports never see the light of day. The state government should take these issues seriously.”

BJP spokesperson S halabh Mani Tripathi said the government is looking into these issues, but the NHRC should also show solidarity towards police personnel martyred in encounters.

“Human Rights commission is a constitutional institution and we respect it. The commission is doing its job and the government is also doing its job. It is correct that the commission takes cognizance of the death of criminals and checks whether human rights were violated or not. But at the same time, our police personnel are also being martyred i n encounters with criminals. I hope the commission will show some solidarity with them too,” he said, referring to the Ghaziabad encounter.
