MY HERO

Since time immemorials, the horrors and consternations of war have been the worst scenario a person ever wants to see in his or her entire life. Choosing the war path had led to the end of numerous amount of lives with undulating spirit. Do we ever think that how much destruction a war causes or how are we going to face those innocent eyes who have nothing to do with the decisions and outcomes of the world but have to lose their cherished ones?

Talking about war, the July 26th cannot go without discussion. It is said to be the first world which happened after both Indian Pakistan got hold of their own nuclear power. Although stated by PM Atal Vihari Vajpayee that this was not a' war' but a 'war like' situation, but this very situation only made a fatal blow to the soldiers of both the nations.Coming to this, in' Kargil War 1999' fought between Indiaand Pakistan, there were many Indian soldiers who face their death without flicking their eyes and went straight ahead inside the enemy's den.The mounts of Ladakh saw the glimpse of the 'Kargil War' where new heroes were emerging one by one outcasting the enemies with the sheer will of 'deshbhakti' and bravery. Among this gallant effort made by our Indian soldiers, I perceived the one who at such a tender age of 19 when the teenagers are busy with their own personal issues, gleamed while facing the enemies. Yes, I am talking about Grenadier from 18 Grenadiers who was the soul survivor of the attack on Tiger hills in which he took 15 bullets on himself. Although he was young warrior but the bravery he showed in the battlefield was not less than any person who would led down his whole life for the nation.

As he saw that the automatic fires was killing his comrades, he went all the way to kill four enemies and stopped the automatic fires due to which he was severely injured by the bullets. He was a part of the Ghatak that recaptured three strategic bunkers on Tiger hills. To pave the way for his platoon, he ignored his injuries and wrapped a bandana around his wounds to continue his actions. He is the youngest soldier ever to receive the for his distinguished bravery and exemplary courage during the 1999 Kargil War.He is the son of a retired soldier who took part in 1965 and 1971's war against Pakistan and used to tell them to the young Yogendra which infilled him with love towards his nation and helped him to made up his mind to join the Indian Army alongside with his brother. He was infused with the utter will of serving the nation which in turn saved him during the war when an enemy soldier tried to take an aim at his chest and fired a bullet, but it didn't kill him because there was a rs 5 coin kept in his pocket which saved him there. He spent 18 months in the hospital recuperating himself and from that day onwards he came to be known as the KARGIL WAR HERO who inspired myriad of young generation to wake up for the good and serve the nation. For me ,he is the epitome of the bravery and a hero to which I can look upon and admire his deeds which helped India and made sure that all the citizens are safe and sound.
