COMEBACK CATS Florida has overcome a multi-goal deficit in the third period of each of their last two games. In each of Florida's last two third periods, the club has scored at least three goals. Frank Vatrano has scored in each of those two third periods. Patric Hornqvist has scored three third period game-tying goals this season and the Cats have come back to tie a game in the third period five times this season. Entering the third period without a goal on Feb. 25 vs. DAL, Florida scored three unanswered goals in 3:11 of the final 6:21 of regulation to erase a 2-0 deficit. Per NHL Stats, Florida's third period rally marked the fifth time in franchise history that the Panthers overcame a multi-goal deficit in the third period to win in regulation when entering the period without a goal. FLORIDA'S FEBRUARY Florida posted an 8-4-2 record in February, ranking third in the NHL for the month. Florida's eight February wins marked the fifth time in franchise history that the club has recorded at least eight wins in the month. The Cats' 18 points in February tied for the most points accumulated by the club in the month in Panthers history. In 14 games played in the month of February, Jonathan Huberdeau produced a team-best seven goals and 17 points (7-10-17). Huberdeau ranked sixth in the NHL for points, tied for fifth in assists and tied for ninth in goals. Aleksander Barkov registered 14 points (6-8-14) over 14 games in February and tied for second in the NHL in shots (49).

SHOTS FIRED Over Florida's last seven games (Feb. 17-Feb. 28), the club has accumulated a league-leading 276 shots on goal. In that span, Aleksander Barkov has logged a team-leading 28 shots. Through the seven games, the Panthers have averaged 39.4 shots per game. The Cats registered a season-high 52 shots on goal on Feb. 22 vs. DAL, marking the highest shot total in a game for all NHL teams this season. Their 29 shots on goal in the second period of that game set a new franchise record for shots in a period, passing the previous mark of 28 (2nd period, Oct. 20, 2005 vs. WSH).

CAPTAIN BARKY Tonight, Aleksander Barkov is expected to play in his 500th NHL game, becoming the 11th player in franchise history to play 500 games in a Panthers uniform. He is also set to become the sixth player to play his first 500 games for Florida and the fourth to have been drafted by the Panthers. Barkov enters tonight's game with 10 points (4-6-10) over his last eight games, including three points (2-1-3) over his last four games. Owning the second-most points in franchise history, Barkov's goal on Feb. 25 vs. DAL marked his 300th career even-strength point. Florida's captain leads the club in shots (73), takeaways (19), total ice time for forwards (417:03) and faceoff win percentage (52.1). Since entering the NHL in 2013-14, Barkov's 428 points (163-265-428) are the most accumulated by a Finnish-born player.

JONNY ON THE SPOT Jonathan Huberdeau has amassed eight points (4-4-8) over his last eight games. EK'S GON' GIVE IT TO YA Aaron Ekblad leads the Panthers with 504:13 total TOI. The two-time NHL All-Star ranks tied for second on the club with three power-play goals and is tied with Robert Svehla (26) for the most power-play goals by a defenseman in franchise history. The 25-year-old blueliner has scored six goals this season, leading all Panthers defensemen. The Panthers own a 94.0 5v5 SV% with Ekblad on the ice, the highest percentage among Panthers defensemen who have played at least 10 games.

WHAT ABOUT BOB? Sergei Bobrovsky owns a 6-2-2 record and 4-1-2 home record. Bobrovsky has made at least 30 saves in each of his last two starts, including a season-high 37 save performance on Feb. 25 vs. DAL. He owns a 3-1-1 record over his last five starts on home ice. Bobrovsky is one shutout shy of passing Ilya Bryzgalov for third in NHL history for shutouts by a Russian-born goaltender (35).

THIS IS THE WAY Chris Driedger has earned wins in four of his last five starts (4-1-0). Through the five-start span, Driedger has posted a .950 save percentage during a FLA penalty kill.

FRANK THE TANK Frank Vatrano has scored in each of FLA's last two games, with both goals being tallied in the third period. He scored a game-winning goal on Feb. 25 vs. DAL and scored a game-tying goal on Feb. 27 vs. CAR. Vatrano has posted three points (2-1-3) over his last five games. IRON YANDS On Feb. 25 vs. DAL, Keith Yandle played in his 885th consecutive NHL game, passing Steve Larmer for the third-longest "Ironman" streak in NHL history. Yandle's streak is the longest active in the NHL and began on March 26, 2009. He is four games away from his 1,000th NHL game. Yandle is set to become the fifth member of the 2005 NHL Draft class to reach 1,000 games.

HORN SECTION Patric Hornqvist enters tonight's game with a team-leading nine goals and has posted 18 points (9-9-18) in 20 GP with FLA. The 34-year-old has produced three points (2-1-3) over his last two games. Hornqvist leads the club with five power-play goals and ranks second on FLA with 69 shots on goal.

Quenneville has more than 20 years of NHL head coaching experience with the St. Louis Blues (1996-2004), Colorado Avalanche (2005-2008) and Chicago Blackhawks (2008-2018) organizations. A native of Windsor, Ontario, Quenneville owns the second-most regular season wins as an NHL head coach in NHL history. Trocheck became the fourth Hurricanes/Whalers player since 1991-92 to score in each of his first two games against his former team after being traded (also 2/17 vs. Florida: 1g). Joe Corvo (3/18/08, 11/7/08 and 1/13/09 vs. OTT), Jussi Jokinen (2/20/09 and 10/6/09 vs. TBL), and Dougie Hamilton (1/22/19 and 2/3/19 vs. CGY) also accomplished the feat. Trocheck also scored in the second round of the shootout, and he is 17-for-42 (40.5%) in shootouts in his NHL career. His three goals this season are tied with Ryan Donato (MIN) and Christian Dvorak (ARI) for the league lead.

GOING FOR TWO The Hurricanes won in a shootout at Florida on Saturday, marking their fourth shootout win of the season. Carolina has won 10 consecutive shootouts dating back to 3/19/19 vs. PIT. The Hurricanes are just the fourth team in NHL history to win 10 straight shootouts, joining COL (3/19/11-1/2/12: 10), DAL (11/5/05-3/24/06: 11) and DET (2/23/16-10/28/17: 12).

BEAN MACHINE Jake Bean scored his first career NHL/Hurricanes goal at Florida (2/27), becoming the seventh defenseman drafted by the Hurricanes since 2009 and the first player drafted by Carolina in 2016 to score an NHL goal with the team. After being held scoreless in his first five career NHL games, he has tallied six points in his last eight games (2/15-2/27: 1g, 5a).

PESH DISPENSER Brett Pesce tallied two assists at Florida (2/27), marking the 14th multi-point game of his NHL/Hurricanes career and his third of the season. He has registered the most assists of any Hurricanes player over the last five games, and he is tied with Jesper Fast (2g, 2a) for the most points in that span (2/20-2/27: 1g, 3a). Pesce has earned 12 points (2g, 10a) through 20 games this season after posting 18 points (4g, 14a) in 61 games in 2019-20. He is tied with Dougie Hamilton (1g, 11a) for the most points among Hurricanes defensemen in 2020-21, and his 12 points through 20 games mark the fastest scoring pace to start any season in his NHL/Hurricanes career, as he had previously never tallied more than seven points (2019-20: 2g, 5a) through his first 20 games.

OPTIMUS REIM James Reimer made 28 saves and added three stops on five Panthers shootout attempts to record his ninth win of the season on 2/27. Reimer has won each of his last seven shootouts since 2/14/19 vs. CGY, and he is 2-0-0 against Florida since being acquired from them by Carolina on 6/30/19. In his last 30 regular season games, he is 21-5-2 with a 2.69 goals-against average, a .911 save percentage and three shutouts.

TAKING ADVANTAGE Vincent Trocheck and Jake Bean each scored on the power-play against Florida on Saturday, marking the Hurricanes’ fourth game this season with at least two goals on the man-advantage. HAMMER TIME Dougie Hamilton recorded his team-leading seventh power-play assist against the Panthers (2/27). He spent the previous seven seasons as an assistant coach after serving the team in player development from 2010-12. Brind'Amour played 1,484 career NHL games in 21 seasons with STL, PHI and CAR, posting 1,184 points (452g, 732a) and captaining the Hurricanes to the Stanley Cup in 2006.
