  • RSS (Really Simple Syndication) Is Offered by Some Websites to Allow Web Users to Be Alerted When Information Is Updated
What is RSS? RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is offered by some websites to allow web users to be alerted when information is updated. Users must subscribe to the website’s RSS feed in order to receive alerts on their desktop or mobile device. Feeds can also be used to deliver media content which you can view on your computer or mobile device. This is referred to as podcasting. How do I need if an RSS feed is available? If feeds are available on a website, the Feeds button will be displayed. How does a feed differ from a website? A feed can have the same content as a webpage, but it's often formatted differently. Why is the Shire using a RSS feed? The Shire has created an RSS feed for when it declares a Harvest and Vehicle Movement Ban. When the ban is declared, information is announced on ABC radio and displayed on the Shire’s main webpage. The RSS feed is another method for people wanting an instant alert. How do I subscribe to an RSS feed? To receive RSS feeds you may need to install an RSS feed reader. In more recent web browsers, feed readers are included as standard features. If you are using Microsoft Outlook or an up to date web browser, refer to the section on Browser Installation Guides below. If you do not already have a feed reader installed in your browser, you may need to install a separate RSS feed reader application. The Shire does not endorse or offer technical support for any third party products, though some commonly used RSS readers are listed below: Windows Microsoft Outlook 2007 or above Internet Explorer 7 and above Firefox Google Chrome FeedReader RSS Reader MAC Safari NewsFire RSS NetNews Wire Mobile (iOS, Android or Windows Mobile) RSS Reader Readers for those with visual impairments Podder .

  • Profiling a Mind Map User: a Descriptive Appraisal
Journal of Instructional Pedagogies Profiling a mind map user: a descriptive appraisal Joanne M. Tucker Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania Gary R. Armstrong Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania Victor J. Massad Kutztown University of Pennsylvania Abstract Whether created manually or through the use of software, a non -linear information organization framework known as mind mapping offers an alternative method for capturing thoughts, ideas and information to lin ear thinking modes, such as outlining. Mind mapping is used in education, government and business as a creative method that is useful in training, brainstorming, organizing and problem solving. This paper examines mind mapping techniques, advantages and di sadvantages of hand -drawn maps and using mind mapping software. Several mind-mapping software applications are compared on a number of product dimensions. Survey results provide a descriptive profile of mind map users in education, government and business sectors. Keywords: mind mapping, mind mapping software, mind map user profile Profiling a mind map user, Page 1 Journal of Instructional Pedagogies Introduction to Mind Maps The mind mapping technique, along with the term “mind map,” originated with popular psychology author Tony Buzan (1970), who developed the technique as a way of helping people to learn more effectively. His work is partly based on the pioneering brain research of the 50’s as well as left/right brain work by Roger Wolcott Sperry (1968) which was later refined by Robert Ornstein (1977). The bod y of this research indicates that the human brain responds best to key words, images, colors, and direct association. Buzan refined these ideas into a simple set of rules that can be followed to create a maze of information known as a mind map.

Printed on June 14, 2020 using Print My Blog STARTING THE SWITCH TO PYTHON 3 28 JUNE 2019 CATEGORIES: MAC OS TAGS: PYTHON With Python (and other scripting languages) being dropped from deprecated in macOS Catalina*, and Python 2.7 maintenance ending in 2020, it’s time to start updating any Python 2 scripts so they are compatible with Python 3. This might seem like a big task, and it could very well be for your code-base, however there are a few things you can do to start the process. If you don’t already have Python 3 installed on your Mac, you’ll need to get it installed. You can install it using homebrew , or you can install it from the Python Releases for Mac OS X page. It’s also provided by Apple, but currently you need an Apple Developer account to access those command line tool betas. There’s a great guide on what to do and what not to do when installing Python 3 on macOS here. No matter which way you get it installed, your Python 3 interpreter will be in a new location, and you’ll de˚nitely want to update pip3 for package management. You can also expect a lot, if not all of the “standard” packages that Apple included with their Python 2.7 framework to not be installed, so you’ll need to make sure you’ve installed those as well. This is a great opportunity to start using virtual environments.

An exploratory study of existing software packages Expert elicitations are used to gather the informed opinion of experts on topics about which little or no knowledge is available. They can also be used to build consensus on controversial knowledge. Software packages can provide important support, but a lot of researchers are not well aware of that. The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) therefore made an overview of the different possibilities. For this overview scientific literature has been reviewed, supplemented with sources on the Internet. This has been funded from the strategic research program (SOR) of the institute. There appear to exist software packages that provide support in: 1) the collaboration of experts and building consensus; 2) characterization of uncertainties; 3) selection of experts; 4) design and execution of the process of estimation and; 5) aggregation and reporting about outcomes.
