BACKGROUNDER: CEDARVALE STATION

Cedarvale Station will be an underground station located on West, at the foot of . It will feature an with the existing Eglinton West subway station. The combined station will be renamed Cedarvale, after the surrounding neighbourhood. TIMELINE • Construction began in 2013, with excavation for the extraction and launch of two tunnel boring machines. • In early 2017, work began to convert the excavated shafs into sections of the new LRT station. • The station will be completed in 2021.

KEY FEATURES Station Entrances Aerial • Four station entrances: the existing entrance, one on either side of the Allen Road on and off- ramps, and one south entrance at Everden Road • 80 indoor and 40 outdoor bicycle parking spaces • Integrated art piece Super Signals by Douglas Coupland STATION CONSTRUCTION • Prior to station construction, excavation was performed to extract two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) that had dug tunnels from Black Creek Road to Allen Road. They were LRT Platform Level lifted over the existing subway station and re-launched east of Allen Road towards . • Components of the future station are now being built in the ~20 metre-deep TBM extraction and launch shafts. • Starting in 2019, sections of the existing subway station will be underpinned and supported while the new LRT platform is constructed underneath. • TTC subway service will continue during LRT platform construction.
