Aberdonians fondly reminisce of ‘walking the mat’ on Wednesday 19th October the mile long Union Street. On a Saturday night, all the Aberdeen Health Village lads and lassies would put on their ‘finery’ and stroll its Performances on the length socialising and ‘chatting each other up.’ It was a hour from 11am – 3pm way to meet people, and the tradition was known to be responsible for a large number of marriages in the city! DanceLive has commissioned London-based Wednesday 19th October choreographer Stephen Pelton to re-author his 1998 The Lemon Tree solo work The Hurdy-gurdy Man, using its original 7pm choreography as source material to create a new work for a new dancer. Scottish Ballet Join Lisa Sinclair from Scottish Ballet for a creative dance Creative Workshop session inspired by the Company’s mesmeric production Friday 14th October of Crystal Pite’s Emergence. Aimed at beginners, or His Majesty’s Theatre Studio dancers with a some previous experience and aged 18+, 1pm – 3pm the workshop will involve learning movement and creative Tickets £5 tasks inspired by this production.

Stopgap Dance Company Led by dance artists Amy Butler and David Toole, this Amy Butler and David Toole class will include improvisation, training exercises and Monday 17th October a fnal dance sequence. Stopgap are experienced at Citymoves Studio movement translation and will support individual dancers 10am – 12pm to get the best out of the class. Joan Clevillé Dance Join choreographer Joan Clevillé for a creative dance Wednesday 19th October session for young and emerging dancers, exploring the Citymoves Studio company’s latest work, Plan B for Utopia. The workshop 10am – 12pm will include a dance warm-up and physical theatre Tickets £5 games, learning partnering sequences from the show and exploring different choreographic tools.

Phoenix Dance Theatre A rare chance to observe a professional company in (Company Class) a dance class prior to their Triple Bill at His Majesty’s Tuesday 25th October Theatre.
