Ffordd Cwm Our aim here at Ysgol Morfa Rhianedd is to provide a happy family atmosphere where every individual is treated with respect and Llandudno where every effort is made to give our pupils the opportunity to LL30 1EG develop to their full potential. We believe that a close partnership between the home and the school is extremely important and parents are asked to sign a Home-School Agreement. Children from non Welsh speaking families are carefully introduced to the Welsh language and some English is used at this initial stage. At the Infants stage the main emphasis is placed on E-MAIL: developing pupils’ ability in Welsh; at the junior level Welsh and English are taught side by side. It is a day, bilingual, co-educational school. The current price is £2 (Infants) and £2.05 (Juniors). Money to pay for school meals should be brought to the school on Monday in an envelope / purse clearly labelled with the child’s name. Cheques should be made payable to ‘Conwy County Borough Council.’ Free meals forms are available at the school. Packed lunches Parents are asked to provide healthy, balanced lunches for their children.Uneaten food will be sent home so that parents know what food their children have actually eaten in school. Visiting Arrangements Parents are formally invited to the school to discuss their children’s development with the class teachers every term. Parents are welcome to contact the school at any time; arrangements to visit should, if possible, be arranged beforehand. Local Clinic (School Nurse) Llandudno 862006 Additional Activities There will be different clubs held at different times during the year e.e. Dragon Sports, Urdd, Film Club and Walking Club. Information on specific clubs will be provided during the school year. The school hopes to ensure the co-operation and the support of parents with all the additional activities arranged. It is the responsibility of parents/guardians to ensure that their children return home safely after end-of-day extra-curricular activities. 4 SCHOOL UNIFORM _____________________________ We have a school uniform. We believe that a school uniform fosters pride in the school and a sense of belonging. Bags to carry P.E. kits and reading books / homework to and from school may be purchased at the school and also sun hats and water bottles. ATTENDANCE Pupils should arrive in school between 8.45 - 8:55a.m. The school is responsible for pupils between 8:45a.m. and 3:25p.m. and will not accept liability for any loss or injury to pupils and their belongings on the premises outside these hours and activities arranged by the school. It is parents’ responsibility to ensure that their children arrive safely in the school in the morning and return home safely at the end of the school day.The school should be notified of any changes to the usual travelling home arrangements. ABSENTEEISM / ILLNESS Good attendance promotes children’s educational development.Each absence should be explained either in writing/e-mail or by word / telephone on the first day of absence. By law we have to record the reason for all absences. Unauthorised absences will be recorded and may be referred to the Education Social Worker. No medicine except inhalers for asthma sufferers should be sent to school. If medicines are essential for your child’ on a long-term basis please contact the Headteacher.Parents/guardians may arrange to come to school to give their children any necessary medicine. A child has no right to leave the school unless a request has been received from the parents. The appropriate form should be completed when a family arranges annual holidays during school term. Parents should try to ensure that holidays do not take place in term time. FOOD / HEALTH Pupils are allowed to eat fruit only at morning playtime. No sweets or chocolates are permitted or fizzy drinks. Pupils are encouraged to drink water from the school fountain during the day. We ask that all visitors to the school refrain from smoking on the school premises. No glass bottles or cans should be brought to school. CLOTHES AND BELONGINGS Pupils should come to school looking clean and dressed tidily. Children’s clothes and belongings should be clearly marked with their names. Pupils should bring appropriate clothing to school for their P.E. lessons.No toys or electronic games should be brought to school. HAIR AND JEWELLERY Pupils’ hair should be tidy. Parents are asked to check their children’s hair regularly. Pupils should not come to school if head lice are present. Pupils should not wear jewellery with the exception of a writst watch, ear studs and signet rings. These must be removed during P.E. activities. BEHAVIOUR The school aims to encourage pupils to behave responsibly and to respect others.We reward good conduct and follow the school’s Behaviour Code in the case of any misbehaviour.Copies of the school’s Behaviour Code are displayed in school and parents may ask to have a copy.
