We encourage all Sixth Form students to lead a healthy lifestyle and take part in physical exercise and sport, whatever your ability or interest.

There are very good tness suites at both Hawthorn High and Pontypridd High which are available for student use.

Through a partnership with the Welsh Rugby Union a development ocer supports the Pontypridd Sixth Form rugby team who will compete in dierent competitions through the year.

Similarly a netball team will jointly represent both schools as part of the Pontypridd Sixth Form.

We have great sporting talent within our schools and we are able to oer the prospect of a football development squad working with Cardi City Football Club. This provision will operate alongside our A Level and BTEC sports provision if the demand from students allows it to do so.

All students are supported and encouraged in nurturing positive aspirations based on realistic self-appraisal and awareness of the steps and processes needed to achieve their goals. Several days are set aside during the summer term of Year 12 to prepare students for life after Sixth Form. They are guided through their UCAS applications, student nance, health and wellbeing, the world of work and other alternatives to university both by school sta and outside providers. Year 12 parents also have the opportunity to attend our UCAS Parents’ Evening in the summer term which gives them information on both the UCAS and YOUR Pontypridd Sixth Form timetable for applying to university.

The majority of our Year 13 students go on to FUTURE university each year. Last summer around 85% went on to Higher Education at universities both locally and nationally. Our students secure oers from the top universities, as well as medical, dental and veterinary schools.
