The mothers fund-raised for several years to build the centre on land provided by the local government. The land has a very large 200- year-old banyan, hence its name. Banyan Park is a non-profit, non-government organisation, providing professional pre-schooling to all children. This stamp design was selected from artwork provided by the current play centre committee. The local artists of this issue were Cristina Rose and Alice Rogers, both resident young mothers here on the Island.
