Except for the description of the plant figured, the text on page 312 should be changed accordingly: Pleurothallis octomeriae Schltr., Repert. Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. Beih. 17:21. 1921. Pleurothallis cerea Ames, Sched. Orchid, 4: 19. 1923. ETYMOLOGY: Named for the similarity of the to the Octomeria. Octomeria from the Greek octo, "eight," and meros, "part," referring to the eight pollinia. TYPE: PANAMA: CHIRIQUI: epiphytic in ravines, alt. ca. 1700 m, C. W. Powell 252. DISTRIBUTION: Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. This species resembles an Octomeria not only because of its habit, but also. because the petals are as large as the sepals. Pleurothallis octomeriae is closely allied to the Mexican P. octomerioides Lipdl.Neither has been reported from intervening Guatemala and Honduras. PleurOthallis octomeriae maybe distinguished from its relative by the short, swollen segments of the rhizome, the glabrous sepals, petals which are generally wider below the mid dle, and a lip which is minutely verruculose. 426
