Getting there:  Union Station Metro (Red): Exit Union Station through the front of the building, past the shops. Continue straight on First St. N.E. through the Columbus Plaza, and First St. N.E. will turn into E St. N.E. At New Jersey Ave. N.W., turn left. The Liaison Capitol Hill will be on the left side of the street.

The Student Advocates Meeting and Welcome Reception will take place at the .

Exhibits “Hot to Cold,” “Designing for Disaster” and “The Architectural Image” will be open for Advocacy Day attendees to view during the reception.

Getting there:  Metro (Red): Enter the Building Museum directly across F Street.  Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro (Yellow/Green): Use the Galleries/Arena exit to F St.; at the top of the last escalator (F St.), turn left and walk a short two blocks to the museum.  Walking: The Building Museum is a half-mile walk from the Liaison via E St. N.W. and 4th St. N.W. The Building Museum is on F St. N.W. between 4th and 5th Streets.  Cab fare from the Liaison to the Building Museum is approximately $7.

MONDAY

All Museums Advocacy Day programming on Monday, February 23, will take place at the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel. Meeting rooms are located on the ground floor, past the registration counter.

TUESDAY

Visiting Capitol Hill: Located across Capitol Hill are the U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Supreme Court and . Most buildings are open and free to the public. However, for public safety, many buildings have restrictions on certain items. See restricted items at aoc.gov/prohibited-items-us-capitol-building. Please follow any directions provided by Capitol Hill police at all times.

The Congressional Kickoff and Breakfast will be in the Russell Senate Office Building.

Russell Senate Office Building 2 Constitution Ave. N.E. 8–9:30 a.m. Kennedy Caucus Room Congressional Kickoff and Breakfast Third Floor, Room 325 Public entrance opens at 7:30 a.m.

Getting there:  Walking: From the Liaison Capitol Hill, turn left onto New Jersey Ave. N.W. At the corner, turn left onto D St. and proceed three blocks to First St. N.E. Turn right and proceed one block before entering the Russell Senate Office Building, on your right, at the corner of First St. N.E. and C St. N.E.  If arriving by taxi, use the entrance at First St. N.E. and Constitution Ave. N.E.  The nearest metro station is Union Station (Red).

The Congressional Reception will be in the Rayburn House Office Building.

Rayburn House Office Building 45 Independence Ave. S.W. 5–7 p.m. Room B-339 Congressional Reception

Getting there:  The closest Metro station to the Rayburn House Office Building is Capitol South (Blue/Orange/Silver). At the top of the Metro station escalator, walk to the left and almost immediately turn left onto C St. N.E. and walk down the hill past the Cannon and Longworth buildings (which will be on your right). Turn right onto South Capitol St., and the entrance to Rayburn will be on your left.

House and Senate Buildings: Senate Office Buildings (Russell, Dirksen, Hart) are north of the Capitol. Union Station is the closest Metro station. House Office Buildings (Rayburn, Longworth, and Cannon) are south of the Capitol. Capitol South is the closest Metro station.

Getting to meetings: Do your best to get to meetings a few minutes early, and let staff know your group has arrived. Call the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 to reach offices.

IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Near the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel:  Art & Soul Restaurant $$$ The Liaison Capitol Hill’s onsite restaurant features southern fare by celebrity chef Art Smith, and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The ArtBar Lounge is open until 11 p.m. nightly. There is also one in Union Station.  CVS Pharmacy is located at 400 Massachusetts Ave. N.W. (open 24 hours).  Walmart Supercenter and Pharmacy is located at 99 H St. N.W.

After the Welcome Reception: The Chinatown/Gallery Place area and are home to many popular restaurants.
