Dear Parishioners, I hope this finds you well. Today’s readings are all about death and new life—a preview of the Triduum which will arrive in two weeks. It is a reflection that we have been living with lately with every news source and article bringing us the latest information on the Coronavirus. Here at St. Joseph’s, we continue to work and learn new ways to stay connected with our parish during this time of uncer- tainty and trial caused by the Coronavirus. As you know, we have been observing the recommendations from the CDC and the Diocese of Savannah in cancelling our public liturgies and extra gatherings since March 16th and have been doing our best to try to stay connected with you by other means. On March 17th, we began video taping/live streaming a daily Mass at 8:00 am M-F and 9:00 am on Saturday, and a Holy Hour with the Rosary each day at 5:30 pm. In addition, we have aired the Sunday 11:00 am Mass the past two weekends and posted periodic written reflections on the daily readings. We continue to have Confessions available at the regularly scheduled times and have been leaving the side door of our church open throughout the day for prayer and devotions. We plan to keep these practices in place as long as we are allowed or find it not imprudent to do so. We plan on keeping up with the live streaming of the Masses and Holy Hours until the normal celebration of public Masses returns, so feel free to tune in to the live stream, which is done through Facebook Live and can be accessed through our Facebook page or can be navigated to by going through the Facebook widget/window on our website. If you have a Facebook account you can “Like” or “follow” our Facebook page and will have access to our latest activities and updates. If you don’t have a Facebook account, you can go to our website and find the Facebook widget on the right side of the screen of your desktop or laptop (very bottom of the home page screen if you are using a smart phone) and can click on previously recorded videos for viewing. As of this writing, the city of Macon has announced further limitations in our community that would extend until April 6th, which includes and takes us to the beginning of . Barring a miracle, we will probably still be closed for Holy Week and Easter as well. We will continue to provide as much coverage of the Holy Week and Easter services as possible by means of the live streaming and do our best to keep you updated. While the obligation to attend Sunday Mass has been relaxed during this time, we con- tinue to observe our Lenten practices, fasts, abstaining, and prayer and to do our best to connect with the Mass in whatever way we can. Fr. Wright and I wish you well and are keeping you close in our prayers and Masses. May the Lord bless you abundantly during this time. In Christ, Fr. Winchel
