Your Race Weekend is coming up – Here is what to expect:

Your Lapping Day – A brief classroom discussion led by experienced professional drivers prepares your mind with track orientation, rules and regulations. Once your head is in the game, the track is now yours. Two 30-minute sessions allow for professional, personal feedback to hone your skills - Not just to feed your knowledge inventory, but to ensure you are more competitive for your race weekend. We are here to make you a better driver—this weekend and those to follow.

Your Lead-Follow Lapping Session – In a single 30-minute track session, both you and your Skip Barber professional driver are each in a race car one on one finding and pushing your limits, taking your skills to the point of reflex. This allows your mind to focus more clearly on what’s happening around you. This experience gets you to the front.

Your Private Video Coaching – A private session with a professional driver allows for a download review of in-car data and video, ultimately getting into your head to witness every move you make behind the wheel. There is no pretending here.

Fun Fact: INDYCAR Drivers Ryan Hunter-Reay, Helio Castroneves, and Tony Kanaan are Skip Barber Graduates.

Your Practice Day– Two 30-minute track sessions raise your intensity and ability. A timing element with open passing are now added. During these sessions you create a plan for your event. You measure and hone your abilities while measuring the abilities of your competition. Included are comprehensive timing sheets that illustrate your progress. Practice sessions are critical for those running INDYCAR, ALMS, Grand Am, NASCAR and F1. They are equally critical for you.

Qualifying – The grid is open. Depending on the race series you select, you receive one (MX5) or two (Formula) qualifying sessions. Now you must draw on all the knowledge, feedback, and experience from previous sessions to put yourself in the best position. Will you start up front and lead wire-to-wire, or have to charge up through the field? Your Lapping, Lead-Follow Lapping and Practice sessions all culminate to your best possible timed lap. Now the grid is set for a weekend of racing.

Your Race Weekend – You will have a minimum of two opportunities to compete and test your skills. You are taking the green flag, side by side, in either two (Formula) or three (MX5) lap-count events designed to run 30 minutes. What is your plan? It’s now time to execute. Skip Barber professional instructors have been with you every step of the way. They are still there. Evaluation continues up to and throughout each race. Now you’re measured in a racing environment. Sure the climate has changed – now the training, lapping and practice you’ve experienced will take you to the front.

Your Race Series – You have taken the checkered flag in the Skip Barber Race Series Presented by Mazda – one of a driver’s most exhilarating and rewarding experiences. Now you have a choice. Do you take your experience, your points you’ve earned and continue to improve and measure yourself? If your answer is yes, the Race Series must be your choice. Look around you. Are you competing today against the Indy 500, ALMS, or F1Champion of tomorrow?

Your Safety – Safety is paramount starting with the specially prepared race cars designed to perform and protect the driver. Snell rated helmets; nomex racing suites are supplied by Skip Barber Racing School. Each Skip Barber Race Car is equipped with RACEceivers designed to provide real-time track information during your event.

Save the Equipment – A critical component of being a successful driver is preserving the equipment. As with any race series, taking care of the equipment is the responsibility of the driver. We offer a damage liability reduction of $250.00 per day to reduce liability to $6,000.00 per vehicle with an incident value at or below $10,000.00 per vehicle. Any amount over $10,000.00 per vehicle is the driver’s responsibility.
