The Falcons got off to a hot start on the night when John O’Kelley grabbed Odessa, Texas (Ratliff Stadium) his first interception of the season, and Chris Hoad recovered O’Kelley’s fumble deep in Tarleton State territory to take it to the Tarleton 15. Two plays later, Leroy Giles scampered in from 15 yards out for the 6-0 lead for his first touchdown of the season. ANGELO STATE Saturday, Oct. 20 - 6 p.m. Later in the first quarter, quarterback Taylor Null found Kristian Brown twice on a three-play Midland, Texas drive, first on a 27-yard reception to start the series and then two plays later from 35 yards (Grande Stadium) out down the sideline for the touchdown. at EASTERN NEW MEXICO The Falcon defense stepped up big in the second half, limiting Tarleton to just three points Saturday, Oct. 27 - 8 p.m. on a field goal in the third quarter. UTPB had a pair of turnover on downs that came on Portales, N.M. fourth down goal line stops, and Josh Terrell forced and recovered a fumble at the UTPB (Greyhound Stadium) six-yard line to help keep the Texans out of the end zone. TEXAS A&M COMMERCE Brown ended the game leading the Falcons with 77 yards on four catches Saturday, Nov. 3 - 6 p.m. Odessa, Texas (Ratliff Stadium) Null was 18-41 on the night passing, with one TD and an interception. Chris Hoad led a group of four defenders that finished in double digits in tackles, recording at TEXAS AM KINGSVILLE 15 total tackles for the game. Saturday, Nov. 10 - 7 p.m. Kingsville, Texas UP NEXT (Javelina Stadium) UT Permian Basin returns home for a 7 p.m. LSC match up against Western New Mexico. UT Permian Basin and Western New Mexico have split their two previous games; Western New Mexico won 68-17 in 2016, and the Falcons pulled out a 41-32 win last season in Lone Star Conference Standings 2017. Team Lone Star Overall UTPB trailed 14-0 early in last season’s game in Silver City, N.M., but the Falcons scored MSU Texas 2-0 4-0 24 points in the second quarter with touchdowns by Mitchell Leonard and Kristian Brown, Tarleton State 2-0 3-0 and a defensive score on a 49-yard interception by Chris Hoad for a 24-14 halftime lead. Texas A&M Commerce 2-0 3-1 Angelo State 1-1 2-1 Western New Mexico had a chance to tie the game with six minutes remaining in the fourth West Texas A&M 1-1 2-2 quarter after a touchdown, but missed the two-point conversion to trail 34-32. Eastern New Mexico 1-1 1-3 Texas A&M Kingsville 0-3 1-3 The Falcons put the game away on a touchdown by Brandon Infiesto with just over a minute UT Permian Basin 0-2 0-4 left for the 41-32 victory. Western New Mexico 0-1 0-3 Saturday, Sept. 22 SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS Western New Mexico enters today’s game after a 27-17 loss at home against West Texas West Texas A&M 27 at Western New Mexico 17 A&M. The Mustangs trailed 17-3 at halftime after West Texas A&M scored on a 55 yard Colorado State - Pueblo 23 at Texas A&M Commerce 13 Eastern New Mexico 31 at Texas A&M Kingsville 14 interception returned for a touchdown with a minute remaining in the first half. UT Permian Basin 13 at Tarleton State 35 Angelo State 35 at Midwestern State 57 Kourde Roberts caught both of the touchdowns in the second half for Western New Mexico on the night, catching his first score from quarterback Blayne Armstrong on a 21-yard pass. Saturday, Sept. 29 The two later connected for a 77-yard touchdown. Western New Mexico at UT Permian Baisn - 6 p.m. Tarleton State at Angelo State - 6 p.m. Armstrong threw for 354 yards on 34-49 passing for the Mustangs, while WNMU held West Lock Haven at Texas A&M Commerce - 6 p.m. Texas A&M to just 85 yards through the air in the game. Roberts ended the night with eight New Mexico Highlands at Texas A&M Kingsville - 7 p.m. catches for 112 yards. A true freshman from Artesia, N.M., Null saw his first taste of game action at the collegiate level in the team’s home opener. He helped lead the Falcons down the field on a 14-play, 97 yard drive where Marquis Simmons punched in an 8-yard TD for a 7-0 lead wtih 13:21 remaining in the second half. He ended the night with a pair of TD passes in the second half, a 27 yard catch by Ben Galaviz and a 56 yard strike to Kristian Brown. Null finished the AFCA Coaches Poll game 22-35 passing for 300 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Week 4 - As of Sept. 24 Galaviz Makes it Three Rank School (1st place votes) Previous Rank Junior wide receiver Ben Galaviz made it three straight weeks with a touchdown reception 1 Minnesota State (26) 4-0 2 to start 2018. The Freshman of the 12 West Chester 4-0 13 Year in the Lone Star Conference in 2017, O’Kelley spent all night in the Texas Southern 13 Valdosta State 4-0 16 backfield, racking up seven tackles to lead the Falcon defense. He recorded three of the 14 Central Washington 3-1 12 team’s four sacks for 18 yards, 3.5 tackles for loss, forced a fumble and blocked an extra 15 Colorado Mines 4-0 17 point that Diameon Brewer took to the end zone for two points.
