If you saw Rosemania II, the Church's video about the construction of the 1992 Adventist float, you may have seen that statement. It was an exciting adventure for those who helped raise the money, glued on flowers and rode on the float. The Church has agreed to build its third float which will be seen in the 1993 Tournament of Roses Parade. It is incredible that an estimated 400 million people around the world in 90 countries will see the Adventist name as well as the attention to detail taken to create a beautiful float for only $225,000. That's about a half a cent per person! Please note: the money paying for this float comes only from donations given just for this ministry. No money is taken from tithe or any other funds. This is an effective ministry! People do ask questions about our beliefs when they see the Seventh-day Adventist float. And some people are active in this ministry even though they may never have been active in other ministries. So this year plan to be a part of the adventure. Although you may not live in southern California and cannot attend the parade, there are many ways of using the occasion to witness in your area. For suggestions of ways to use this year's float as a witnessing opportunity, for more information, or to financially contribute to the float, contact your local Pathfinder Club or your local Conference Pathfinder Director. The socially conscious children at Lyndale Academy in Bay Roberts have recently undertaken two projects worthy of recognition. With the final tabulation of last September's Terry Fox run completed, it has been learned the elementary school students raised more money per capita than any other school in Newfoundland. The final figures show the students raised an average of $38.80 per participant. The participants, pictured above from left rear are: Billy Abbott, James Mercer, teacher Sharon Stokes, Bradley Bradbury, and Danny Harris. Seated in front are Robbie Harris and Leslie Stokes. MESSENGER/JULY 1992 17 ONTARIO Canadian Astronaut Brings Oshawa Students a Message from Space Canadian astronaut Ken Money landed at College Park Elementary School Thursday to talk to kids about the NASA space program. Dr. Money was invited to speak at the Oshawa school by an aunt of two of the students, Camille and Adrian Butler. At an assembly, Dr. Money stressed the importance of health, education and environment. "I've never seen a single astronaut smoke a cigarette or use illicit drugs," he said. Selene came to Victoria from Saskatchewan, and has been at- tending the Victoria Church for two years. Concern for her children's future and the need for religion in their lives lead her to at- tend the Adventist church. Her decision to join the Adven- tist church was largely due to study of the Gerard Dis video tapes loaned to her by a member of the Victoria Church. On Sabbath evening, May 9, five precious souls were baptized and one added to the Chillizvack member- ship on profession of faith. Left to Right: Pastor H.
