Odessa, Texas (Ratliff Stadium) The Falcons led halfway through the third quarter Saturday night against Angelo State, but the Falcons gave up 27 unanswered points in a 44-20 loss. ANGELO STATE Saturday, Oct. 20 - L 20-44 Taylor Null threw his third touchdown pass of the game on a five yard pass to Mitchell Leon- Midland, Texas ard for a 20-17 lead with 8:39 remaining in the third quarter. (Grande Stadium) Angelo State tied the game at 20-20 late in the third on a 26-yard field goal, and added at EASTERN NEW MEXICO three touchdowns in the fourth. Saturday, Oct. 27 - 8 p.m. Portales, N.M. Null threw for over 400 yards for the second straight game, completing 32-47 passes for (Greyhound Stadium) three touchdowns and 409 yards on the night. Kyle McBride was the main benefactor, catching a team-record 11 passes for 142 yards and a 34-yard touchdown. Chris Hoad led TEXAS A&M COMMERCE the defense with 17 total tackles on the night. Saturday, Nov. 3 - 6 p.m. Odessa, Texas (Ratliff Stadium) UP NEXT UT Permian Basin travels to Portales, N.M., for an 8 p.m. road game at Eastern New at TEXAS AM KINGSVILLE Mexico. Coming into the game, the Greyhounds rank fourth in the conference with 383.1 Saturday, Nov. 10 - 7 p.m. yards per game but are followed right behind by the Falcons with 380.9 points per game. Kingsville, Texas The Greyhounds triple option attack has them leading the conference in rushing yards with (Javelina Stadium) 316.9 per game. They are led by Paul Terry with 705 yards and seven touchdowns. Quar- terback Wyatt Strand has added in 581 yards and six scores while the team has 23 rushing touchdowns as a whole. Marquis Simmons leads the Falcons on the ground with 460 yards Lone Star Conference Standings and two touchdowns. Team Lone Star Overall The Falcons excel at the aerial attack where freshman quarterback Taylor Null is second in Tarleton State 6-0 7-0 the conference in passing yards with 1,797 while adding in 14 touchdowns. Kyle McBride Midwestern State 4-1 6-1 leads a balanced receiving group for the Falcons with 536 yards and three touchdowns, Texas A&M Commerce 4-1 6-2 while Ben Galaviz leads the team with five touchdowns to go along with 33 receptions and West Texas A&M 3-2 5-3 414 yards. Kristian Brown rounds out the group with 26 catches for 452 yards and four Angelo State 3-3 4-4 touchdowns. Strand has thrown for just 389 yards with two scores for the Greyhounds who Eastern New Mexico 3-3 3-5 average 66.25 yards per game in the air. Johnny Smith leads them with 325 receiving yards UT Permian Basin 1-4 2-6 and has been on the receiving end of all five of their touchdown passes. Texas A&M Kingsville 0-5 2-6 Western New Mexico 0-5 0-7 The Falcons bring to the game Chris Hoad who has 86 tackles on the season which is tied for the lead in the Lone Star Conference and is among the top tacklers in the country. The Falcon defense is also tied for the conference lead with 21 sacks which also ranks 31st Saturday, Oct. 20 nationally. The Greyhounds are led by Brad Hardin with 58 tackles on a defense that allows Texas A&M Commerce 55, Western New Mexico 7 Angelo State 44, UT Permian Basin 20 372.1 yards per game. Eastern New Mexico 28, West Texas A&M 0 Tarleton State 59, Texas A&M Kingsville 21 NULL GOES DEEP Freshman quarterback Taylor Null has made a name for himself quickly in 2018. Null ranks Saturday, Oct. 27 second in the conference averaging 299.5 yards per pass and is third in the league with 14 West Texas A&M at Texas A&M Commerce - 4 p.m. touchdowns through just six games of action. Null has had the two biggest games of his Adams State at Angelo State - 4 p.m. career the past two weeks, throwing for 430 yards on 31-48 passing with four touchdowns Western New Mexico at Texas A&M Kingsville - 7 p.m. in a 36-17 homecoming victory against Humboldt State. Three of the four scores came from Tarleton State at Midwestern State - 7 p.m. beyond 40 yards, including a 57 yard pass six minutes in to the game to Kristian brown UT Permian Basin at Eastern New Mexico - 8 p.m. and a game-long 62 yard touchdown to Baylon Ware early in the third quarter. Last week, Null came back to complete 32-47 passes for 409 yards and three TD’s last week against Saturday, Nov. 3 Angelo State. HOAD NAMED LONE STAR PLAYER OF THE WEEK Linebacker Chris Hoad was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week for week 5, the league announced Monday afternoon. Hoad was all over the field for the Falcons in their 21-20 win over esternW New Mexico. AFCA Coaches Poll The junior registered a game-high 15 tackles, including 10 in the second half of the Falcons comeback. He played a major part in only allowing 233 yards of total offense, with nine solo Week 9 - As of Oct. 22 Rank School (1st place votes) Previous Rank tackles. Hoad also had 2.5 tackles for loss for five yards and registered a quarterback hit. 1 Minnesota State (30) 1 Through five weeks of action, Hoad leads the Falcons and ranks second in the Lone Star 2 Ferris State (3) 2 Conference with 56 tackles. A true freshman from Artesia, N.M., Null saw his first taste of game action at the 11 Northwest Missouri State 11 collegiate level in the team’s home opener. He helped lead the Falcons down the field on 12 West Chester 12 a 14-play, 97 yard drive where Marquis Simmons punched in an 8-yard TD for a 7-0 lead 13 Colorado State - Pueblo 13 wtih 13:21 remaining in the second half. He ended the night with a pair of TD passes in the 14 Notre Dame (OH) 14 second half, a 27 yard catch by Ben Galaviz and a 56 yard strike to Kristian Brown. Null 15 Kutztown 15 finished the game 22-35 passing for 300 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
