J.C. The Ram Student Center J.C. is a Dorset ram named for President Mary J.C. Hendrix ’74. The tradition at Shepherd of having a live ram mascot named in honor of 210 North King Street the current president goes back to the presidency of Dr. Oliver S. Ikenberry, with Ike the ram. Shepherd Tradition: Relay For Life and Community Service Health Center Students have long engaged in annual events such as Alternative Spring Break, giving, produce drop, and Relay For Life. Relay Gardiner Hall, Lower Level, Health Center For Life is Shepherd University’s time-honored tradition for both the campus and local community. Since 2003, Shepherd University has 304-876-5161 raised more than $790,000 for the American Cancer Society. The primary mission of the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs is to help prepare all Shepherd University students to live, learn, work, and succeed in a diverse society. Multicultural Student Affairs acts as a liaison between students and administrators, faculty, and staff, providing problem-solving negotiations. Students and parents are provided with assistance related to financial aid, admissions, registration, and other institutional services. The office supports all students, but specifically traditionally under- represented students.

Multicultural Leadership Team Members of the team are full-time degree-seeking students committed to enhancing cultural diversity and improving race relations locally, nationally, and internationally. Members of the team participate in a multicultural leadership development program that equips, challenges, and empowers them to demonstrate their commitment to cultural and racial diversity by helping to prepare others to live, learn, work, and succeed in a pluralistic society.
