TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION INFORMATION

CUSTOMS AND IMMIGRATION

If you need to obtain a visa to enter Canada, please access the Canadian Government’s website, www.cic.gc.ca, to find a visa office near you. Your formal acceptance letter for the program functions as an official letter of invitation when applying for a visa. Please note that visa applications can take up to eight weeks to process.

Please ensure that you investigate the visa requirements at least nine weeks before the program to allow adequate processing time. Bring a copy of your acceptance letter through customs, in addition to your passport and ticket.

ACCOMMODATION

Sheraton Gateway (Saturday July 21 only)

If participating in our Niagara Falls networking tour, you will spend the night of Saturday, July 21st at the Sheraton Gateway hotel, which is located in Terminal Three of Toronto Pearson International Airport. The remainder of the program is spent at the Schulich School of Business.

Please note that the cost of accommodation for Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning is included in your registration fee; however, all other meals, room service and additional expenses will be charged to you.

Directions within airport:

Terminal 1 Arrivals: Once you have passed immigration, proceed to the Monorail which is located on the 2nd level. The monorail is a free service that runs every 3- 4 minutes. At Terminal 3 follow signs for the Sheraton Gateway Hotel.

Terminal 3 Arrivals: Once you have passed immigration, proceed to the departures level. Follow signs for Sheraton Gateway Hotel.

Schulich School of Business (starting Sunday July 22nd)

Starting Sunday, July 22nd, accommodation will be at the Schulich School of Business’ facilities. Please note that the cost of the room is not covered in your registration fees. Payment can be made at checkout using major credit cards: Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Cost per night is $152 CAD (including taxes); Toronto Centre will make the reservation on your behalf.

NETWORKING TOUR

On Sunday, July 22nd, there is a networking tour to Canada’s legendary Niagara Falls. . The cost of the tour is covered in the registration fee.

The tour will depart from the Sheraton Airport Hotel at 8:00 AM on Sunday morning. Please bring your luggage, which will be stored on the bus. The bus will not return to the Sheraton Airport Hotel: after the visit to Niagara Falls, it will go directly to the Schulich School of Business at York University.

Please dress casually for Niagara Falls as you will get wet. An extra pair of shoes on the bus is the best idea; bring a light jacket in case it turns cool. Bring a camera if possible.

Itinerary for Sunday, July 22nd

7:00 AM: Breakfast at the Sheraton Gateway (Solarium of the Mahogany room)

8:00 AM: Niagara tour departs (bring luggage)

6:00 PM: Welcome dinner at Schulich School of Business

MEALS AND FAREWELL DINNER

The cost of all meals is included in your registration fee. There will be a special farewell dinner on the last day of the course at Toronto’s famous CN Tower, which provides stunning views of the city.

LOCAL TRANSPORTATION

Taxis

There are a number of different taxi companies in Toronto – each has a distinct look. • Fares are standard, metered and non-negotiable • The driver should start the meter at the beginning of your ride and stop it when you reach your destination • If your service was acceptable, a 10-15% tip is customary

Subway

Explore Toronto on one of North America’s finest transportation systems – the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). When using the TTC a single fare will take you anywhere in the city on a one way trip. You can freely transfer between subway, streetcar and bus, but make sure you obtain a transfer when and where you pay your fare. On buses and streetcars, exact change ($3) is required.

July weather in Toronto is generally hot and muggy.

• Visitors can expect rain about 10 days out of 31 in July.

COURSE MATERIALS

You will be sent pre-reading materials and exercises by June 22nd, 2012. The rest of the course material will be provided during the program.

CERTIFICATION

Please note that full attendance at the course for five days is mandatory to obtain certificate of completion.
