he automotive and information and communication technology (ICT) industries are converging at a rapidly increasing rate. This is good news for businesses, consumers and city planners who stand to benefit in aT wide variety of ways — from fresh industry growth to better road safety to a range of Smart City solutions as Intelligent Transport Systems begin to reduce and increase connectivity and mobility for urban dwellers.

But how can these two very different industries — and the public sector entities that help govern them — find ways to collaborate to extend the benefits of connected innovation safely to everyone?

The ITU and UNECE held the fifth annual Symposium on the Future Networked Car 2018 (FNC‑2018) on the opening day of the 88th Geneva International Motor Show to discuss these pressing issues.

FNC‑18 brought together representatives of vehicle manufacturers, the automotive and ICT industries, governments and their regula‑ tors.
