IConFEd in 2018 where more than 400 educators gathered to share ideas on the future of education. IConFEd 2020 aims to provide a professional platform to discuss the following key questions: What does the future of education look like? How do educators of today prepare our learners for tomorrow? How do we prepare ourselves to learn, to teach and to lead in these changing times? How do we leverage technology and stay rooted in humanity? PENANG HERITAGE Penang celebrates the inscription of the city as a World Heritage City by UNESCO and the government has set July 7 as a public holiday for Penang every year. This public holiday is uniquely celebrated in Penang and not in any other states in Malaysia. With great pleasure, I would like to welcome you to the 2nd International Conference on the Future of Education (IConFed) 2020, conducted virtually with everyone’s health and well-being in mind. The theme of this year’s conference – Developing Global Educators in the New Normal is very apt in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic felt at such a global scale. This pandemic is disruptive - turning our world and the world of education on its head. From now on, the way we live, work, and communicate will probably not be the same and traditional jobs become scarce. Therefore, there arises a great need to challenge status quo and engage in fields where artificial intelligence and automation mesh up. Borrowing the oft quoted acronym from leadership theory - DR. AHMAD RAFEE VUCA, I must say that we live in a VUCA world indeed. Our world is Volatile, BIN CHE KASSIM Uncertain, truly Complex and Ambiguous. I trust that this conference is an outstanding platform for the sharing of knowledge and expertise to establish a more vibrant and sustainable educational environment in facing the COVID-19 pandemic. In line with the theme of the conference "Developing Global Educators in the New Normal," I believe that this two-day event will be an invaluable and exciting experience for education experts, academics, teachers and practitioners to be exposed to the future trends in the field of education.
