8 hour away! We’re always back in Essex as our families live there, and when we do see them it’s quality time rather than a quick cup of tea.

Do you see yourself staying here? Paul: Definitely, but we’re renting this house which worked out for the best. We’ve been able to get a feel for the area and see the streets we’d like to live on. Sam: It feels like a weight has lifted off my shoulders. We’re really settled here, so there’s no need to rush buying somewhere. We love how open plan the house is, and Paul has his man cave upstairs. I’ll go in and he’ll say, “What are you doing here?” [Laughs]

How have you both found lockdown? Paul: I didn’t think we could get any closer, because we already do everything together and we really love each other, but we really have. Our lives are usually so fast-paced and so we just enjoyed this quality time together. We’ve had dinner together every night, which is a beautiful thing. Sam: I’m now a professional chef! The children don’t really know what’s going on, and have just enjoyed having our undivided attention. Now we’re able to see people again they’ve all noticed how much more grown up they are.

Did you get to spend time as a couple? Sam: Not really – I’d like to do a mini break somewhere in the UK now that we can. We’ve just been to Spain but you don’t really get to fully relax when the children are with you. Paul: Sam did surprise me with a movie night watching Twins, which is my favourite film, in the garden. She made me stay upstairs while they set it all up, and then I closed my eyes and she led me out. I usually don’t like surprises, but this was really special. Sam: I’m more romantic, I enjoy it. I enjoy booking our holidays and everything. If it was left to Paul we’d never go away. Paul is quite sweet though, he surprised me with a Prada bag to say thank you for all I’ve done in lockdown. He thinks I’ve been a super mum!

Sam, was lockdown the longest you’ve gone without seeing Billie? Yeah, it was about two months and then I met her and my mum for a socially distanced picnic in the park. Paul and Rosie didn’t get to see their cousins Nelly and Arthur, and I think they really missed them. I couldn’t keep up with all the rules, so I thought it was just best to stay out of trouble. As we’re in the public eye, it means we sometimes get a harder time. They announced that people needed to do a two-week quarantine after getting back from Spain while we were out there. We got back and there were paparazzi waiting outside our house for the two weeks trying to expose us. It’s impossible to defend ourselves all day long – that would be exhausting.

Paul, what inspired you to get fit? My belly inspired it! I thought if I carried on the same way then the outcome is going to be horrendous. I started doing virtual personal training sessions and I’ve lost two stone. My abs are coming back but the biggest benefit is how I feel in myself. I wasn’t really buying into it beforehand but then each day I felt better in myself. I’ve trained every single day for four- and-a-half months. It’s given me more energy, and the endorphins make me so happy. It’s worked complete wonders for me. I feel like so many good things have happened in other aspects of my life. Now they’re stronger than ever because of what they’ve There are reports experienced. I think their love for each other that the new book grows the more they take on. The statement has “upset” Kate from Harry early on about the sexism and racism Meghan was being subjected to was the thing Meghan needed to see at that stage to know it was worth sticking out. I think if Harry had showed fear at taking on the media, I’d have argued that it may not have lasted.

It claims in the book that Her Majesty the Queen has said the door is always open for them. Can you see them ever returning to royal life? I think when that came from the Queen, it was clear that was her being a caring grandmother to Harry. Harry and his father are very close at the moment and Harry and the Queen have this unbreakable bond. When she made her speech during lockdown, he was the first to pick up the phone and wish her luck. Those relationships haven’t been permanently rocked by what’s happened. But when it became clear that their “half in, half out” working mode wasn’t going to work, it’s almost impossible to turn back from that. But now I believe the couple are in a good place. They’re thriving as a family and are focusing on the work 20

they’re passionate about. I doubt they’ll ever look back.

What does the next chapter hold? For a couple entering a new chapter, coronavirus has forced them to put the brakes on. I would imagine it wouldn’t have felt encouraging at first because I think they were so ready to hit the ground running and prove to everybody that they had what it takes to make this work. But it’s been the perfect moment for reflection. I think now when we do see them step back into the public eye, we’ll see a much stronger, more polished version of the couple ready to take on all the challenges that they still have but with clear messaging about the work they plan to do – whether it’s commercial or philanthropic. The work they do will always tie in with those areas of social impact that they’re interested in. I don’t think anyone truly knows the exact date Archewell will launch, but right now I think we’re looking at the beginning of next year, possibly the end of this year. They’re not in a rush.

They’re said to have bought a $14.65 million mansion in Santa Barbara, California. What would have been important to them when house-hunting? The couple really explored many different avenues when it came to where they’ll live. I’m sure they followed security advice. Lockdown has been a real experience for them living in a home [the couple were renting Tyler Perry’s Beverly Hills mansion] that perhaps they felt was very protected but actually wasn’t able to keep paparazzi pictures, drones or trespassers at bay. All The pair reportedly these things would’ve been taken into bought this Santa account. They want to find their forever Barbara mansion home and have that as their nest. They are a borderless couple and I do think we’ll see them travelling when the world shifts, but right now California is their priority. I think the US will remain the heart of where they carry out their work and they will very quickly realise how big a stage they have to themselves out there. The charitable landscape is much bigger, too. But the UK is hugely important to them and they will never turn their backs on this country.

Will Meghan return to acting? I think she’s moved too far forward to really consider re-entering that scene. But I do think storytelling, film and documentary making is something that the couple will get involved with in a much bigger capacity. Look at the working models the Obamas created for themselves when they left the White House – they started a production company and acquired intelligent rights to great stories they can tell in a number of different mediums. I’m sure Harry and Meghan will be keen to do something similar as well.

Can you see them having more children? I know that the couple are perfectly content with the three of them. I think if there was ever a situation where number four was on his or her way, it would be a very beautiful surprise for them. OK! And it might be hard to believe, but the former teen idol is now a mum to her own teenage daughter, Suri – who is understandably her number one priority. The actress says of the 14-year-old, “I love her so much. My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality. To make sure she is 100 per cent herself and strong, confident, and able. And to know it!” Katie split from Suri’s father Tom Cruise in 2012 after nearly six years of marriage. At the time, Suri was just six, and Katie has said the very public demise of her marriage was “intense”. “It was a lot of attention, and I had a little child on top of it,” the 41-year-old explained. “So many people I didn’t know became my friends and helped us out, and that’s what I love about the city.” New York, the city in question, Katie and is where Katie and Suri call home, her teenage and have been isolating during daughter Suri lockdown. As he invites us inside the pair’s two-bedroom south London home, Riyadh jokes, “He wasn’t complaining, until he had to eat the same dish four times and the kitchen was covered in pots and pans!” Unfortunately for the nation’s taste buds, Riyadh isn’t considering a full-time move to the kitchen. He laughs, “I love what I do... also, I am a natural born attention seeker. I need to be around cameras.” Following the success of his YouTube channel and various TV and radio projects, he has certainly had his hands full over the past few years. And paving the way for the next generation of LGBTQ+ youth is also a big priority for the star. As well as penning his own book, Yay! You’re Gay, Now What?, Riyadh presented BBC Three documentary Queer Britain, examining the challenges faced by the community. The star credits his “wonderful” parents for his success, and explains that though his father initially found his coming out difficult, they are now both the ultimate allies. “I really hit the jackpot with my parents, and I am reminded every day of how wonderful they are,” says Riyadh. His parents have also given Josh their seal of approval, and though Riyadh insists a wedding is “a long way off”, that’s not going to stop us nipping out to buy our hats!

They seem so supportive... I attribute everything I have done in my career to them. My dad used to wake up at five in the morning to drive me to my first ever commercial radio shows. They have been there every single step of the way. We did have a blip and a moment of uncertainty, shame and sadness when I came out, and it was difficult for Dad in particular. A good friend of mine went on ‘IHAVESUCHA THICKSKINIAM SOATONEWITH MYIDENTITY’ a date with Josh. They had a lovely time but there was no romantic connection. 62 WWW.OK.CO.UK 63 Here, the duo talk about whether they’ll find out the gender of their little one, how they feel about becoming parents and whether they’ll film the birth for the ITVBe reality show...

Congratulations to both of you. How are you feeling? Hanna: We’re really excited. It’s obviously going to be a new chapter in our lives and we’re both at that point where we’re ready to start a family and enjoy that next era. Martin: I’m really excited. It feels a bit surreal and it hasn’t quite sunk in. A lot of people have been telling me this is the start of the best time of my life, so I’m looking forward to the future.

Has it been hard keeping it a secret? Hanna: Oh my God, I’ve wanted to shout it from the rooftops! It’s been the hardest thing to keep to myself. We decided quite early on that we wanted to tell both sets of parents and their reactions will be something I’ll never forget. My mum burst into tears.

When did you find out that you were pregnant, Hanna? We all went into lockdown and I think Martin and I had a great time in lockdown! We’re usually like passing ships, so it was the first time we got to spend every hour of every day together. We spent the first few weeks eating, drinking, making TikToks and having a laugh and then around the fourth week into it I woke up and thought, “I don’t feel right. I feel different.” I did a test and that was it.

A lockdown baby! Where were you when you found out the news? Hanna: I was at home. Martin: I was cooking breakfast. Hanna was saying she knew that something was up, but I thought, “It’s so quick, it’s highly unlikely.” But then she called me from the bedroom and I knew straight away before I saw her. I could hear it in her voice.

Were you thinking about having a baby for a while? Hanna: We always said it would be nice to have a family. We do like the idea of having a big family. We were of the mindset that we do need to get cracking, but we didn’t put any pressure on it. That month it did happen, was the first month we consciously thought… Martin: Let’s try!

How was it going to your first scan with the coronavirus restrictions? Hanna: It’s not been very nice really, because I’m with Macclesfield Hospital and you can’t go in with your partner there. The first scan was booked at the hospital and they said Martin couldn’t come in with me. With it being my first baby, I wanted my husband there so we booked a private scan and went together for that. Martin: We feel sorry for other people who aren’t able to do that. It’s a really important experience and we both got quite emotional.

Is there a chance you might not be able to go in for the labour, Martin? Martin: We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. I don’t think there’s any point in worrying or giving ourselves any unnecessary stress. Hanna: It’s quite a scary concept for a lot of mums who’ve never done it before – to go into labour without your partner and then let them in at the last minute.

I’m at that weird stage where I don’t quite look pregnant, but my body’s different. I can feel my hips have become a bit wider and my tummy feels different. There is a bit of a bump. When you’re at that in between stage, you’re thinking, “I hope people don’t think, ‘She’s had a good lockdown and stuffed her face.’”

Will you find out the sex before the birth? Martin: It’s a really hard one. I have thought of the benefits of knowing, but I’d probably lean towards not knowing. Although, we talk to our unborn baby. Hanna: [Laughs] We have little chats with it. Originally we were both set on the idea of a surprise, but we’ve changed our minds a bit. I’m thinking of the nursery and clothes and things I want to buy for it. I’m torn. Martin: It’d be nice to imagine the baby as what the gender is.

Do you have a preference on the sex? Hanna: Since day one I’ve had a feeling I’m having a boy. I’ve always said I want a house full of girls, but now that I’m thinking about the idea of having a boy, I really don’t mind. Martin: I’d be happy with either. I share the same gut feeling about it being a boy.

Have you spoken about names? Hanna: We’ve got a few ideas. We agree on most things. We’ve got a shortlist. ‘ITFEELSABIT SURREALANDIT HASN’TQUITE SUNKIN!’

Does Hanna get the final say on the names, Martin? No! When it comes to important things we do agree. But I wouldn’t be happy with it if she wasn’t happy with it. Hanna: Vice versa. I’m from a Persian heritage and I think it would be nice to have a name that you could say in Iranian and in English.

What kind of parents do you think you’ll be? Hanna: I cannot wait to be a mum and to have a little human being and teach it everything I know, shape their personality and watch them grow up into adulthood. I’m so excited for that entire journey. Martin and I have got such similar values and principles in life that everything we do, we’ll do together. We’ll be fun, but when it comes to school work, I think we’ll be straight-talking.

How do you feel about becoming a dad, Martin? I’m really excited and I can’t wait. Hanna: We’re both excited to meet this baby!

Have you had any thoughts on what kind of birth you’ll have? Hanna: I’ve not made a definitive decision, because there are so many options. I’ll have a clear idea on what I’m going to do more towards my 20-week scan.

Will we see the baby on the The Real Housewives Of Cheshire? Hanna: The producers would have the cameras there at the birth if they could! Only joking. here’s no doubt about it... ghd’s Tstraighteners are the best on the market. So when the brand creates a new hair tool – such as the Glide hot brush and, most recently, the Oracle instant curl-creator – the world sits up and takes note. But ghd’s latest launch, the Rise – a round bristled heated brush – at first might not seem that revolutionary. “A hot brush?” you might be thinking. “Haven’t they been around for ages?” Yes, but the Rise aims to deliver exactly what consumers want from their styler (the effect of a voluminous blow dry at home) as easily as possible, using ghd’s famous smart technology. often make this dish when I am abroad. The trick is to be sure to add the fillings in the correct order: first the avocado, then the shiso leaves, Imayonnaise and crab sticks. This way the colours will look beautiful. 1. To make the sushi rice, rinse the rice and drain it in a sieve. Let it stand for about 15 minutes. Put the rice into a saucepan, add the water to the pan and cook. Meanwhile, combine the vinegar, sugar and salt in a bowl and stir to dissolve. Pour this sushi vinegar over the freshly cooked rice and fold it in as the rice cools. 2. Cut the nori seaweed sheets in half. Cut squares of greaseproof paper that are slightly larger than the nori sheets. 3. Peel and stone the avocados and cut into even-sized strips. Cut the shiso leaves in half, if using. 4. Place the paper on to a makisu (rolling mat). Place the nori on top and spread a layer of sushi rice over it. Using the paper, turn the nori and rice over, so that the nori side faces upwards. 5. A little below the centre of the nori sheet, make a thin line of avocado strips. Place 3 shiso leaves on top and spread 1 teaspoon of mayonnaise thinly over them. 6. Then place 3 crab sticks on top. 7. Roll up the makisu over the ingredients, pressing gently. Continue rolling to the edge, making sure you don’t roll up the paper in the sushi. Press lightly again, sealed side down, and remove the makisu and the paper. 8. Coat the sushi rolls with sesame seeds. Cut each roll into 6 pieces. Repeat to make more sushi rolls.

WHYGO Combine sightseeing and beach time on an idyllic holiday in Malta, a Mediterranean archipelago comprising Malta (the largest of the three islands), Gozo and Comino. It may be overflowing with architectural treasures (megalithic temples, burial chambers, fortified citadels) but Malta is not all ancient history. Its stunning rugged coast is pitted with secluded coves and sandy beaches and the azure waters offer some world-class diving. The former British colony, where English is an official language, is also a summer party hotspot with the clubbing Vittoriosa scene centred on Paceville in St Julian’s, while the bustling Sliema waterfront Marina promenade is lined with restaurants and bars.

MUST-SEEFILMLOCATIONS Malta has an abundance of fortresses built as protection against centuries of marauding invaders. These fortifications, and the capital Valletta’s magnificent harbour, have made it a popular filming location, with Gladiator, Munich, Troy, The Da Vinci Code, Popeye, World War Z and hit TV series Game Of Thrones all filmed on the islands. One of Malta’s most iconic attractions, the Blue Lagoon (off the coast of Comino), appeared in Troy, an action adventure starring Brad Pitt. Movie scenes were also shot in the beautiful medieval walled city of Mdina, home to Baroque palaces and cobbled alleyways, while another fortified city, Vittoriosa, appeared in The Da Vinci Code. Fort Ricasoli, set on a rocky Comino’s promontory in Kalkara, had a starring role in Blue Lagoon Gladiator as well as Agora, Assassin’s Creed, Troy and Game Of Thrones!

o celebrate the release of her album, 20 Years Old, Janet Jackson joined OK! for a glam photo shoot. The singer had lost four stone and was Tproud of her new figure, telling us, “I’m supposed to eat every three hours but that’s gone down the tube. But I still eat clean. I’ve been eating a lot of strawberries.” The younger sister of Michael Jackson also reflected on her past relationships. Aged just 18, she was briefly married to Rhythm Of The Night singer James DeBarge, but said, “I was very young and stupid. I thought I could change him. He had a drug issue. I thought I could help. I loved him very much.” She then secretly wed dancer René Elizondo Jr in 1991 but they split in 2000. “I think it lasted as long as it did because of it [the secret].” When OK! caught up with Janet, the then 40-year-old was dating rapper Jermaine Dupri, telling us he was different. “I have never had someone who stands on their own feet – they’ve always leant on me.” She added that her biggest lesson in love was, “I don’t want drama. They say arguing is very healthy, and I do believe that, but there’s a limit!” She also believed that a lot of Hollywood relationships failed as, “People jump into things after knowing each other for just two months. They are searching for love.” Janet herself had struggled with depression, but revealed her coping mechanisms. “I have been very positive. Everyone is going to have those ups and downs. It’s how you take them, if you allow them to darken you.” When asked where she’d like to be in 10 years, she replied, “It’d be nice to be really settled, to have a family.” Janet married businessman Wissam Al Mana in 2012 and in 2017, aged 50, she welcomed their son Eissa. The couple split soon after. OK!

Janet was happy and relaxed on our shoot
