Jaded In Jonesboro 2013 SUN BELT The Mean Green track & fi eld teams took second place at the Sun Belt Conference CONFERENCE PERFORMERS Indoor Championships at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro, Ark. The women OF THE WEEK fi nished with 117.5 points, just fi ve shy of fi rst place, while the men fi nished with 1/23/13- Clint Collins 126 points. The men improved from an eighth place fi nish last year. Men’s Indoor Track 2/13/13- Chelsea Hermes Rounding Up The Results Women’s Indoor Field The Mean Green collectively broke six indoor records throughout the course of 2/13/13- Clint Collins the indoor season. Senior Jo Adams now holds the mile and 3,000 meter record Men’s Indoor Track while junior Shahaf Bareni took the high jump. Junior Clint Collins broke his own 2/20/13- Christina Taylor 400-meter dash record while junior Matt Russ took the 800 meters and senior John Women’s Indoor Track Garrish took control of the weight throw record. 2/20/13- Shahaf Bareni Women’s Indoor Field I’m In Miami Trick 2/20/13- Charleston Lewis The 2013 Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships will be held in Miami, Men’s Indoor Field Fla., for the fi rst time since 2000. In 2012, North Texas women’s team won its fi rst 2/25/13- Christina Taylor outdoor championship since 2005, while the men took seventh. Women’s Indoor Championship Track Outstanding Freshman Resilient In The Rankings 3/20/13-Aaron Sirles Mean Green track & fi eld celebrated the movement in the South Central, which Men’s Outdoor Field is one of the toughest regions, in the fi nal week of the regional poll for the indoor season. The women jumped from 11th-place up to ninth to become the highest ranked SBC team. The men reamined at No. 13 for the second-straight week.

And The Athelte of the Week Is... North Texas has much to celebrate in the fi nal week of the indoor season as three athletes were named SBC “Athlete of the Week” in their respective categories. Ju- INDOOR REGIONAL RANKINGS nior Charleston Lewis broke his own school record for the weight throw on his way to being named Male Field “Athlete of the Week.” Junior Shahaf Bareni hopped an MEN’S impressive 1.75 metes in the high jump to become the Female Field “Athlete of the Week.” And newcomer Christina Taylor won the women’s 800 meters in a SBC best 2:14.10 (converted) to become the Female Track “Athlete of the Week.”

Advancing Adams Senior Josephine Adams wrote her name in the North Texas record book for the fi fth time in the 2012-13 season. Adams, who owns the school record in the women’s 5K, placed fi rst in the 1-mile run at the Howie Ryan Invitational break- ing a 33-year-old record set by Leana Hocking. Adams’ time of 4:49.38 boosted her to the top of the SBC performance list. Adams is currently second in Sun Belt in the 3000-meter run with a personal-best of 9:51.26.

Bareni Blasting Off Junior Shahaf Bareni carried over her success from the J.D. Martin Invitational to Howie Ryan Invitational & Multi’s taking fi rst place in the high jump for the sec- ond consecutive week. Bareni jumped an impressive 1.79 meters in the women’s WOMEN’S high jump to capture the school record by 3/4 of an inch. Bareni currently stands in second place on the SBC performance list for the women’s high jump.

Party In The C-USA On May 4, 2012 the University of North Texas was extended and accepted an invi- tation for Conference USA membership eff ective July 1, 2013. North Texas is one of eight schools that will be joining Conference USA. North Texas, the University of Texas-San Antonio, Louisiana Tech University, Florida International University and the University of North Carolina-Charlott e accepted invitations on May 4. On May 17, Old Dominion University announced it was also accepting C-USA’s invita- tion. On Nov. 29, Middle Tennessee State University and Florida Atlantic Unvier- sity also accepted invitations to move to C-USA in 2014.
