Southwick reports 13 COVID-19 cases The town remains in the high risk category for second straight week By PETER CURRIER Staff Writer SOUTHWICK — The Board of Health reported 13 new COVID-19 cases this week to bring Southwick’s pandemic total to 576 cases. This week’s case count keeps Southwick in the high-risk community category for the second week in a row. The percent-positivity rate for the past 14 days is 5.09 percent and the average daily incidence rate per 100,000 resi- dents is 24.8. This week also marks the first time in nearly one month that Southwick’s percent positivity rate was higher than that of Hampden County as a whole. The Hampden County rate is 4.57 percent. Because of Southwick’s status as a high-risk community, the Fall 2 sports season was suspended indefinitely last week, with just a week left to play. Flag Line at Mercy Medical Neighboring Westfield had not updated their weekly COVID-19 Members of Southwick American Legion Post 338 line up outside Mercy Medical Center to honor healthcare report as of April 23. Westfield improved to 13-1 overall, 6-0 in the MASCAC. In game one, starter Shane Bogli (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) tossed a complete game and got all the offense he would need from a 2-run home run from Ethan Day (Meriden, Conn./ Lyman Hall). Day lofted a fly ball home run to left field in the second, with Bryant Dana (Lynnfield, Mass.), coming around to score in front of him. Casey Boudreau (Shrewsbury, Mass.) fol- lowed with an RBI double later in the inning. Bogli (W, 3-0) worked seven strong innings, scattering five hits while striking out nine.
