Fly-Drive “De Historiske” Fjord 7 NIGHTS FROM €1875 PER PERSON Staying in a selection of Norway’s leading historic hotels Valid from May - August, 2017

This sample itinerary includes overnights in a selection of traditional hotels in some of the most picturesque parts of fjord Norway. It is suitable for those who enjoy a level of independence as well as superb local cuisine.

Day 1 (252km) Pick up your hire car at Oslo Airport and start with a scenic 3 hour drive to Dr Holms Hotel & Spa in Geilo, the gateway town to the fjords, where you stay for 2 nights. [dinner]

Day 2 Explore the region by car or on foot. How about a stroll along the lakeside of Ustedalen or a full day guided hike to the glacier on the Hardangerjokulen. Maybe download some of the suggested walking maps for the area available to purchase from carwalks.com before you leave Ireland. [breakfast, dinner]

Day 3 (231km) Drive over the Myrkdalsvegen mountain making sure to allow time for a stop to fully appreciate the fjord village of Flåm. Today you will also pass along the head of the Næroyfjord, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its natural beauty. Then it is on to where you stay for 1 night in the Kviknes Hotel. Day 4 (239km) Board the 8am car ferry and travel up to Mundal, famous for the old books sold by vendors along the quayside. The Norsk Bremuseum (where you’ll learn all about glaciers) is definitely worth a visit. Follow with a visit to the real thing, the Suphellenipa Glacier, just a short drive further on. Drive on via the old town of Lærdal where you can pay a visit to the Norwegian Atlantic Wild Salmon Centre. Then it’s a long drive (along good highway and through the world’s longest tunnel at 22 km, but don’t worry, there’s no toll!) to Lofthus where you check in for 2 nights at the Hotel. Day 5 Relax in the heart of the fjord region today. You could start the day with a short drive to for a walk along the Husedalen Valley. Then continue on to and the Hardangervidda Nature Centre before heading back to Lofthus. [breakfast, dinner]

Day 6 (128km) Just a short, but picturesque, drive today to the village of Os where you stay for 2 nights at the Solstrand Hotel & Bad (Spa). [breakfast, dinner]

Day 7 Take it easy on your last full day in Norway. Enjoy the amazing water views or take advantage of the excellent facilities in this charming De Historiske hotel. [breakfast, dinner]

Day 8 (28km) It’s a one hour drive back to Airport where you drop off your hire car in time for your early afternoon flights home. [breakfast] Price Includes  Return flights from Dublin to Norway including known taxes.  7 nights bed, breakfast and evening dinner in standard rooms in traditional De Historiske Norwegian hotels (or similar).  Group B hire car (Oslo - Bergen) including taxes.
