RESEARCH ACTIVITIES AND TRAINING:

JANUARY, 2018: Completed the GIS training workshop on miRNA. Cairo, Egypt. Where the following techniques were studied: - miRNA isolation using organic solvent and spin column separation technique. RT-PCR and qPCR of selected miRNA targets in plasma.

SEPTEMBER, 2017: Completed a Hands-on practical training course on Nano-drug delivery systems, NAWAH scientific, Egypt.

AUGUST, 2017: Completed the Hands-on training course of the international summer school of Nanotechnology, Naqaa scientific foundation, Egypt.

MAY, 2017: Flow cytometry applications workshop: center of excellence for stem cell research, Zewail City for Science and Technology, Cairo, Egypt. Where the following were studied: -Flow cytometry Standardization. -Analysis of Data. -Processing of samples, characterization of mesenchymal stem cells, measuring of apoptosis, cell sorting and cell cycle analysis.

2009 - 2015:

Ph.D. Research project was concerned with investigating the potential of differentiating mesenchymal stem cells of different origins to insulin-producing cells. All through the project the following techniques were used: - Isolation and characterization of mesenchymal stem cells from bone-marrow and adipose tissues. -Differentiating stem cells using regenerating pancreatic extract. - Conventional and real time PCR of genes related to pancreatic cells development. 2 Nermeen Zakaria -ECLIA technique. - Glucose challenge tests.

2009 - 2012: Participated in training several young researchers, the adequate handling and management of tissue culture labs and isolation technique of mesenchymal stem cells at the tissue culture lab facility, Al Moneera Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University.

2008: Completed The Stem cells isolation and characterization workshop, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, Egypt.

2003 - 2007: The master research project was concerned with studying the oxidative stress effects of the anti- cancer drug “cisplatin” and consequent incidence of nephrotoxicity. The study also assessed the possible protective and therapeutic role of glutamine against cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity.
