His main research fields are Inorganic Chemistry, Solid State Chemistry, Materials Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry. Current research interest is sol-gel synthesis and characterization of multicomponent metal oxide systems. He got his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Rolandas Kazlauskas at Vilnius University (1989) in ionometry (ion-selective electrodes) with application for determination of zinc and copper in cyanide solutions. He did a postdoc on the synthesis of novel superconducting and lu- minescent materials in Helsinki University of Technology, Stockholm University, Harvard University, Rice University, Lim- burgs University and University of Saarland. He supervised 26 PhD students, 4 postdocs and many trainees. From 2003 to 2017, he was PI of several national and International (NATO, European Sixth Framework Programme, COST, HORIZON 2020) grants. He is the author of more than 210 articles and reviews. He was visiting as guest lecturer at many universities (Chalmers University of Technology, Aarhus University, Tallinn Technical University, University of Tuebingen, Masaryk Uni- versity Brno, University of Gdansk, Charles University of Prague, Vienna University of Technology, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, University of Koln, University of Malta, Muenster University of Applied Sciences, University of Lat- via, Paul Scherrer Institute, National Taipei University of Technology, Taipei Medical University, Abant Izzet Baysal Universi- ty, University of Venice). He received four times Vilnius University Rector’s Research Award (2003, 2007, 2011, 2016), Lith- uanian Republic Research Award (2004), Lithuanian State Last Degree Fellowship (2007-2008), Lithuanian Academy of Sci- ences Juozas Matulis Award (2009). He was the Honorary International Chair Professor at National Taipei University of Tech- nology, Taiwan (2012-2014) and Laureat of the Medal SAPIENTI SAT of the Association and Chapter of A. Sniadecki, K. Olszewski and Z. Wrublewski (Poland).
