As a result of the unique and extenuating circumstances caused by COVID-19 and the subsequent impact on international sporting calendars, Commonwealth Games Scotland (CGS) and Scottish Volleyball will be closely monitoring this Selection Policy to determine if any changes are necessary. For the avoidance of doubt, CGS reserves the right to amend this Selection Policy in any manner, and at the sole and absolute discretion of CGS, should CGS consider that the qualification process would be fairer having regard to the interests of all Athletes and the prevailing circumstances. In addition, CGS and Scottish Volleyball reserve the right not to apply any aspect of this Selection Policy when making any decision, if in the sole and absolute discretion of CGS, it would, as judged by CGS, be unfair or unreasonable not to, provided always that CGS has regard to the interests of all Athletes in the prevailing circumstances. 1 Introduction 1.1 This selection policy has been agreed by Scottish Volleyball and Commonwealth Games Scotland (CGS). It provides detail on the process by which Scottish Volleyball will arrive at Athlete nominations, which will be submitted to CGS for consideration, for final selection to Team Scotland for Birmingham 2022. 1.2 Achievement, by an Athlete, of individual selection standards, as detailed in this document, is therefore the first step by which nomination can be considered. -

Rising to real world challenges – from the lab to changing lives. 1 Rising to real world challenges – from the lab to changing lives How the Universities of the West Midlands are coming together to realise the grand challenges facing the UK and the world Introduction Universities are economic engines contributing £2.9 billion GVA to the West Midlands and creating 55,000 jobs (directly and indirectly) across all skills levels. While many are recognised for their impact in talent and innovation generated through teaching and research, it can be difficult to understand the link between the work happening in their institutions and how it will affect everyday lives. 0 INTRODUCTION I have attempted to write this article about the Association during its first 100 years in a manner which I hope will be found interesting. I have not used bibliographic indications, but have included a bibliography as an aid for anyone who might wish to write a more detailed history of the Association. Principal events in the Association's history, some of them serious, some of them less serious are mentioned. The main primary source material used has been the Minutes of the Association's meetings. Unfortunately the Minutes of the first 20 years and for the period from 1939 until 1954 are missing and therefore I was unable to comment in detail about these periods. From reading this article you will see that it was the policy of the Association to improve the management of athletic meetings and suppress the abuses which were very prevalent in its early years and to keep the sport within the amateur ranks. From this base the Association is now firmly established, I have no doubt there will be omissions and the occasional mistake of fact and for these I apologise. ROY MITCHELL HON. SECRETARY Date: March 1980 1 FOREWORD This History written to record the first 100 years of the Midland Counties Amateur Athletic Association has not been uneventful, in a sport which covers over 20 disciplines and caters for all. The fat, the thin, the short, the tall, any class, creed, politics or colour, a truly all embracing pastime for all. This admirable history compiled over many hours of work by Roy Mitchell shows not only the evolution of the sport in the Midlands, but the very beginnings of the Modern Olympic ideals from the observing of the Much Wenlock Olympics which had been running for over 150 years before the advent of modern athletics which we know today. -

General Project Title Alexander Stadium Redevelopment Full Business Case – (as per Voyager) Phase 1 Commonwealth Games Development Voyager code CA-03031-01/1CA0/2AA Portfolio Commonwealth Games, Sport, Directorate Neighbourhoods /Committee Events Approved by Steve Hollingworth Approved by Guy Olivant Project Finance Business Sponsor Partner A2. Outline Business Case approval (Date and approving body) Alexander Stadium will host the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games opening and closing ceremonies and the athletics competition. To accommodate this in accordance with the requirements of the Host City Contract, and to provide a lasting, financially sustainable community sports facility post Games, the Council needs to develop a scheme for its redevelopment. An Outline Business Case was previously developed as part of a Masterplan by The Sports Consultancy in conjunction with S&P architects and Mace in 2018, detailing the redevelopment of the site to include preparations for the Games overlay and new facility developments in Legacy mode following the Games. The final report did not fully capture the most up to date information on the project and its stakeholders, which at that time was continuously evolving at pace. Since then the vision for the site and final stakeholder list has been finalised and potential new anchor tenants have been secured in the form of Birmingham City University (BCU) that will base their sports campus at the site. The (GBSLEP) FBC was also produced by Birmingham City Council and Arcadis as part of the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership Business Case in parallel to this report to seek to secure contributory funds for the scheme.
