Newly-crowned major champion Collin Morikawa and Max Homa to face off against Bryson DeChambeau and Kevin Na in Wednesday BMW Match Play Challenge event to kick off the Official Start of BMW Championship Week Olympia Fields, IL – August 26, 2020... The 2020 BMW Championship officially got underway today at Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, Illinois, as the club hosts the event for the first time since 1971 and sixth time in its history. Defending BMW Championship winner Justin Thomas will look to become the first repeat champion since BMW became title sponsor in 2007. While a limited number of volunteers, in addition to state and local authorities, are on site to ensure the smooth execution of the event, the 2020 BMW Championship will be held without spectators due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. To kick BMW Championship week off, BMW, the Western Golf Association and the PGA TOUR brought four of the sport’s best players together for a unique, one-day BMW Match Play Challenge. The nine- hole charity event will celebrate the main beneficiary of the BMW Championship – the Evans Scholars Foundation. Headlining the BMW Match Play Challenge on Wednesday will be Collin Morikawa, winner of the 2020 PGA Championship, and six-time PGA TOUR winner, Bryson DeChambeau.
