In 1937, the site was the location of the grand Ritz Cinema which was severely damaged in an air raid in 1940 and lay in a semi-derelict state until 1946, when it was renovated to working order. It ceased to be a cinema in 1969 and was converted into a bingo club which traded until 1997. The building was demolished in 2001 and the land is now used as a car park.

The majority of the car park is let under a short-term tenancy which has a 60 day termination notice period plus there is a statutory declaration to ensure the tenancy is not protected. The main income is fixed at £1,500 per month which equates to £18,000 per annum.
