You may have noticed that all lecturers are male…

We originally had invited a female colleague for the neutrino lectures, who promptly accepted

Unfortunately she withdraw one month prior to the school

We scrambled frantically to find a female replacement on a very short timescale but failed to do so.

Eventually we got lucky enough to have Taritree’s accepting our very last minute invitation Program

Dinner Reception Social dinner Dinner Some statistics

31 undergraduate students (16 male, 14 female) from , UK, , , , , , Bosnia-Herzegovina, Belgium, , , Czech Republic, , Switzerland, Lituania

Selected among ~80 applicants according to academic merit (within each system) and trying to preserve the female/male proportions in input.

Cover their travel (up to 200E cap), accommodation, meals, and social program, plus a small school gadget.

6 lecturers chosen based on proven didactical efficacy, intellectually stimulating style and engaging communication. Covered of all expenses.

Total spending: ~25k, or 0.8KE per student. Got 25K from JENNIFER + 2K from local Consorzio per la Fisica. Lectures Lectures Coffee breaks Coffee breaks Coffee breaks Hands-on/demo Social program Social program Social dinner Social dinner What went well

The 2nd JENNIFER school was a success.

This is mainly thanks to the unflagging committment of our outstanding lecturers in communicating not just physics, but genuine enthusiasm for science (and for getting out of their way to incentive social bonding: ….Yuval even brough the students to swim in )

Trieste’s gorgeous summertime, compounded with ICTP kind hospitality and unconditional support did the rest.

The (unexpected) icing on the cake has been the nearly instantaneous bonding of the students among them in a collaborative, friendly and informal atmosphere which made everything much easier, smoother and fun. Thanks
