The Story of the Spinsations

Johnny and the Spinsations traces its roots to 2008, when lead singer Jon Bouche and Patrick Waites joined forces as part of what was then known as the Love Street Band, a group assembled initially for the single purpose of per- forming the Beatles’ White . After that sucessful event in November 2008, the group decided to keep going, primarily performing at charity events and hospitals but also making several radio and TV appearances. On January Lead vocalist30, Jon2009, theBouche group staged a recreation of the Beatles rooftop concert - one of only a few nationally.

In late 2009, the band detached from the Love Street nonprofit and briefly adopted a more psychedelic persona. Freed from sharing its name with a charity (though its members remain heavily involved), the band, then known as Tie-Dye Sky, performed in local venues such as Fitzgeralds.

By early 2010, Jon and Patrick had developed a strong desire to take the band more seriously. This led to a new emphasis on danceable, feelgood oldies of the 50s and 60s and the need for a new name. Patrick initially coined “The Spinsations” but felt that it lacked something. Over Jon’s protests that he hates being called Johnny, the band became “Johnny and the Spinsations.”

Lead guitar player and Houston music-scene veteran David Marshall joined the band in August 2010, following an open auditon. His son Ethan then was recruited to play drums, but soon switched to bass. Following another open audition for a drummer, Danny Patterson completed the lineup. These five guys actually like each other, which they think makes a Spinsations performance more fun for band and audience alike.
