Queensland Multi-Modal ITS in Metropolitan – Technical Tour

Hosted by the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Brisbane City Council on behalf of the Pavilion.

The Queensland Pavilion consortium of government, industry and academia, welcomes you to attend a one-day post-congress technical tour in ’s New World City, Brisbane (only two hours by plane from Melbourne). This is the perfect opportunity for you to extend your stay in Australia and combine a visit to world-class multi-modal ITS facilities with some relaxation and adventure in the sunshine state.

The tour will include: visits to key transport research institutions (including the Queensland University of Technology); travel on road, tunnel and public transport networks to see ITS field deployments; and first-hand exposure to the operation of transport management centres in the Capital . It will conclude with a reception event at Brisbane City Hall with keynote speakers.

For half of the day, there will be two separate options to choose from. • The traffic management option will include a bus trip around the Brisbane motorway network (, , and the /Bridge) to see in action the technologies used to actively manage traffic and enable efficient, safe and informed journeys. There will be a demonstration of emergency vehicle priority technology that has received five industry awards and is currently being rolled out across the state.

• The public transport option will provide a tour of state-of-the-art intermodal facilities at the Roma Street Station bus-rail and the new rail control centre. Delegates will be shown real-time traveller information services and systems, and electronic payment technologies.

During the tour, participants will have access to local ITS experts and will gain an understanding of how ITS is facilitating improved journey experiences for customers across all modes of transport in Queensland.

Local ITS experts will also be available on the following day for one-to-one meetings to discuss your transport challenges and to share their knowledge and experience.
