We Have Decided to Bring Together a Fantastic Selection of New, up and Coming Grapes, Regions and Styles of American Wines. Some We have decided to bring together a fantastic selection of new, up and coming grapes, regions and styles of American wines. Some of our team have recently been visiting vineyards and meeting wine makers from California, Oregon and the Washington State, who emphasise modern winemaking techniques, whilst using unusual grapes for the location. Our sommelier’s selection is a great way for us to share some of our cellar treasures through a balanced selection available by the glass and by the carafe. Using the revolutionary Coravin system, we are now able to sample some of our finest wine in different measures. We are also organising ‘Sommelier’s Booths’, an exquisite experience at New Street Grill. These little gems means that with your food choices our sommelier will perfectly match specific wines to your menu – these will also run along a theme whether it be winemaker, country, region, grape variety or style of wine. Please ask your Sommelier for more details. We would like you to share our discovery and hope you’ll enjoy. The Team: Lukas Nikanorovas, Head Sommelier Andre Porasso, Sommelier Jacopo Armenio, Junior Sommelier Index Wines by the Glass and Carafes 1-2 Champagne and Sparkling Wines 3-4 Rosé Wines 5 WHITE WINES USA 6 Canada, Argentina, Australia & New Zealand 7 South Africa & Japan 8 Bordeaux, Alsace & Savoie 9 Burgundy 10-11 Rhône Valley 12 Languedoc -Roussillon 13 Loire Valley 14 Italy 15 Spain, Portugal, Hungary, England 16 Germany, Austria 17 RED WINES USA & Canada 18-20 Chile & Argentina 21 Australia 22 New Zealand & South Africa 23 Bordeaux 24-25 Burgundy 26-27 Beaujolais & Rhône Valley 28-29 Languedoc -Roussillon 30 South West, Provence & Loire-Valley 31 Italy 32-33 Spain & Portugal 34 Austria, Germany, Hungary, Turkey & Lebanon 35 Sweet Wines 36-38 Fortified Wines 39 Wines by the Glass & Carafe CHAMPAGNE & SPARKLING WINE 125ml NV Bodega Chandon Brut, Mendoza Argentina 9.50 NV Moët & Chandon Brut Imperial, Champagne France 12.50 NV Pomme ry Apanage Rosé, Champagne France 16.50 NV Krug Grande Cuvée Brut, Champagne France 29.00 WHITE WINE 175ml 500ml 2014 Cuvée Jean-Paul, Pays des Côtes de Gascogne France 5.50 16.00 2013 Verdicchio Classico Superiore, Monte Schiavo Italy 7.50 22.00 2013 Chardonnay, Bogle Vineyards, California USA 9.50 28.00 2014 Pinot Blanc ‘Les Charmes’, Kritt, Alsace France 11.50 32.00 201 1 Viognier Freemark Abbey, Napa Valley USA 14.00 39.00 2015 Sauvignon Blanc , Cloudy Bay, Marlborough NZ 15.50 44.00 ROSÉ WINE 175ml 500ml 2014 Cuvée Jean-Paul, Pays des Côtes de Gascogne France 5.50 16.00 RED WINE 175ml 500ml 201 4 Merlot, Esprit de Sérame, Pays d’Oc France 6.00 17.00 2012 Shiraz,P ays des Peter cotes Lehmann, de Gascogne, Weighbridge France Australia 7.50 20.50 2014 Malbec Estate, Humberto Canale, Patagonia Argentina 9.50 26.00 2013 Nero d’Avola, Feudo Maccari, Sicily Italy 10.50 28.00 201 3 Pinot Noir, Byron, Santa Barbara County USA 12.00 32.00 201 2 Cab., Sauvignon 'H.I.P.', Hedges, Washington USA 14.00 36.00 1 Sommelier’s Glass Using the innovative Enomatic and Coravin systems we are excited to offer you our favourite wines by the glass. The domaine sits at the foot of the Massif des Maures mountain range, 20 minutes from Toulon. With a unique microclimate, the estate benefits from both the cooling mistral winds and the shade of the mountains above. This shade gives a longer ripening period in the crucial weeks prior to harvest. Nine noble grape varieties are found at Rimauresq, including Cinsault, Mourvedre, and Tibouren for the rosés. 2014 Domaine de Rimauresq, Cru Classé 39 2013 Domaine de Rimauresq, Cru Classé magnum 82 5 U.S.A. It is only recently (the first artificial dye was invented in 1857) that the textile industry has turned to synthetic dyes. Today, many craftspeople are rediscovering the joy of achieving colour through the use of renewable, non-toxic, natural sources. Natural dyes are inviting and satisfying to use. Most are familiar substances that will spark creative ideas and widen your view of the world. Try experimenting. Colour can be coaxed from many different sources. Once the cloth or fibre is prepared for dyeing it will soak up the colour, yielding a range of results from deep jew- el-like tones to dusky heathers and pastels.

  • The Merlot Magician
modern winemaking and now, with his Aquila Sangiovese, he had done it again. The story wasn’t there in the Chronicle’s wine section that morning; instead, a front-page head- line caught his attention, announcing that a huge fire had destroyed $100 million worth of wine in a warehouse on Mare Island, California. Thackrey had nearly all his wine, some 4,000 cases, stored in a warehouse on Mare Island called Wines Central and his first thought was reflex denial: ‘Hmm, I didn’t know there was another wine stor- age warehouse on Mare Island.’ He clicked open the story. The warehouse was indeed Wines Central and it had been burning since 3.30 the previous afternoon. Despite the efforts of 120 firefighters, 21 fire engines and 12 aircraft, the fire was still sending up a 700ft plume of smoke into the sky. ‘My reaction then was a fairly basic “Oh shit”,’ Thackrey says. ‘Outside of that warehouse I had barely enough wine left to drink myself into the grave. On the other hand I knew that building and I thought some of my wine might survive a fire there. It was a vast, vast military fortress built of reinforced concrete and steel and only one part of it was wood, so I knew it wasn’t going to burn to the ground. There was also no question in my mind that it was arson.’ The first call he made was to his insurance broker. He left a message saying they would have to file a claim, possibly a very large claim.

  • Indigenous Synthesis of Wetting Agents from Castor Oil for the Finishing of Cotton Fabric
IMPACT: Journal of Modern Developments in Applied Engineering & Technology Research (IMPACT: JMDAETR) Vol. 1, Issue 2, Dec 2017, 19-34 © Impact Journals INDIGENOUS SYNTHESIS OF WETTING AGENTS FROM CASTOR OIL FOR THE FINISHING OF COTTON FABRIC MELKIE GETNET Program of Textile Engineering, Ethiopian Institute of Textile and Fashion Technology, Bahir Dar University, Bahir Dar, Ethiopia ABSTRACT Castor oil is one of the most versatile plant oils. The various grades of the oil and its derivatives are currently used in over a dozen diverse industries. In future, with the rising environmental concerns and the need for bio-based products to replace synthetic feedstocks, castor oil and oil oleo chemicals have the potential to be used in many newer industries. Many derivatives and oleochwemical of castor oil require relatively simple methods for their production. While higher generation derivatives such as sebatic acid or salts ricvinolweic and undecylenic acid could require more sophisticated production methods. This paper carried out experimental study, through sulfation and neutralization of refined castor oil. Concentrated sulfuric acid will be used as solvent for the sulfation process. The oil produced will be neutralized by caustic soda solution. The characterization analysis revealed that tested parameters, which include concentration, acid value, saponification value and iodine value for refined castor oil produced, were within the ASTM standard specifications. In fact the iodine value obtained (82-88) for the refined oil indicates that the oil could certainly be used as lubricant, wetting agent. The oil was modified via sulphation method to produce Turkey – red oil that was tested on cotton cloth. The test revealed that the Turkey – red oil produced is suitable for wetting agent for cotton fabric.
