AL HORFORD NAMED NBA EASTERN CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Big Man Earns First Player of the Week Honor of His Career
ATLANTA, GA ----- Al Horford today was named NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played from Monday, Nov. 19 through Sunday, Nov. 25.
Horford led the Hawks to a perfect 4-0 week, averaging 16.5 points, 9.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.0 blocks in 35.5 minutes (.554 FG%). Atlanta has the NBA’s longest active win streak at five games, and the Hawks’ 4-2 road mark is the best in the Eastern Conference.
Horford recorded a career-high 10 assists on Nov. 21 in an overtime win against Washington, 101-100, coming up one rebound shy of his first career triple-double (15 points/nine boards). He tied a career-best with 13 made field goals (13- 17) on his way to season-highs of 26 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks (tied), while also recording two assists at Charlotte on Nov. 23 (101-91 win). Horford scored in double-figures in all four games, grabbing at least eight rebounds in each contest.
In 11 starts this season, the sixth-year big man is averaging team-highs of 15.9 points and 9.2 rebounds (t14 th in the NBA), along with 3.1 assists in 35.7 minutes (.545 FG%, ninth in the league).
Other nominees for the Eastern Conference Player of the Week were Horford’s teammate Jeff Teague, Rajon Rondo, Ramon Sessions, Chris Bosh and LeBron James.
